As 2026 takes off, we’re looking back at what a remarkable year 2025 was for our community.
A Year of Crazy EV Deals
News of the $7,500 tax credit ending fueled a nationwide EV frenzy from July to September last year, but on Leasehackr, we were hacking EV leases well before then.
Some of our members truly struck the jackpot, from scoring a $16/month FIAT 500e to a $196/month Mercedes EQS. Huge discounts paired with inflated residuals created opportunities that only our community knew how to exploit.
The rest of us hacked deals that, while they weren’t all unicorns, still provided incredible value and joy of driving. High-performance or ultra-luxury EVs like an Audi RS e-tron GT or BMW i7 somehow became financially justifiable, even to those of a frugal disposition.
Sadly, epic deals on the electric G-Wagon never materialized in 2025. Perhaps they will in 2026?
A Year of Ever-Changing Tariffs
Last year, new auto tariffs led to supply interruptions and blips in demand as both automakers and our community tried to make sense of it all. The reduction of auto tariffs from 25% to 15% for the EU, Japan, and Korea, and 10% for the UK, provided a sigh of relief, together with tariff offsets for domestic vehicles made with non-USMCA content.
For the most part, prices remained steady in 2025 as automakers took a wait-and-see approach to pricing and absorbed billions in tariff expenses in the interim. The industry will inevitably pass on these tariff costs, but in 2025, the Leasehackr community continued to score the same great deals.
A Year of CPO Porsches
2025 saw a great deal of excitement around CPO Porsche leases, from 911 to Macan. Perhaps our community was a bit too enthusiastic about Zuffenhausen’s finest, as rumor has it that Porsche will pump the brakes on CPO leases in 2026.
A Year of Helping One Another
Through it all, our smart and experienced community delivered helpful and sometimes candid feedback to one another, saving members from bad financial decisions and sharing insight on the next best deal.
