Born and raised in Silver Spring. I live in south Florida now but Caps fan from birth for life! We were not making suck!
If youāre okay with FWD, the sweet spot in this category right now in SoCal is the A4 Ultra Tech. Far more features than comparable models - including standard navigation - and its leasing sub-$400 with nothing down. And the Premium Plus adds a ton mote stuff for only another $30 or so a month.
Sometimes you have to look beyond just MSRP - an A4 Ultra Tech is $40,175, but it has navigation, digital cockpit, pre-sense, real leather, heated seats, memory seats, moonroof, rear climate control, xenon headlights, CarPlay/Android Auto, keyless go, etc. etc. Stuff that Benz and BMW often charge for.
Iāve driven the Audi A4 quattro and have been quite impressed with fit n finish more so than the BMW 3 series. But never tried the ultra version. I suspect the ultra version is the dumb-down version and probably wonāt drive the same. But yeah, Iām not willing to save 20 bucks or so for an inferior car. Yeah, I understand it comes with more goodies. But RWD, 9 speed transmission, Benz badge, more horses and plush ride is worth the $20 more a month. I really only need Apple car play to be honest. Donāt really care for navigation. Software changes so much that itās nice to just to be able to hook up iPhone XS MAX or something and get the latest software interface in your car.
Remember, weāre all just renting the car. Itās a toy and we all have stuff we can and canāt live with. Some (like me) are more mechanically sensitive to the engine/transmission while others care about the tech features. The audi virtual cockpit is marvelous but by no means must I have it. I can just live with car play.
To each is own. Iād argue the A4 Ultra is far superior in every which way. Ultra is the same engine, just detuned and FWD. No features are different.
And itās not $20/month more either, you are forgetting down payments. There is $0 DAS on the A4.
But yes, the Benz badge is nice, and RWD drivetrain is another plus. Wish it still came in the luxury version with the hood ornament.
My sister and a buddy of mine have the Q5 and A4 quattros. I do not doubt Audiās have one of the very best drivetrains and AWD systems. But without going to technical fanboy about benz vs bmw vs audi, since this is just a lease forum, I disagree that the A4 ultra is āsuperior in every wayā. Forget about the RWD/FWD drivetrain comparison for just a bit.
The A4 ultra is 190HP. Itās 0-60 is 7.1 seconds. Thatās as slow as my '96 honda civic. The C300 is 0-60 in 6.1 seconds. If you ever have to pass people in LA traffic and what not, trust me, 1 second is a massive difference in the 0-60 window. Thatās like 6-8 car lengths in a drag race. That alone is worth the premium.
I have considered A4ās and A5ās myself, but will never pay for a 190HP Audi. Thatās just too slow for LA driving IMHO. The sweet spot is 250hp for cars weighing around 3350-3600lb for typical sports sedans. You can get away with 190hp if the car was in the 2700lb like a Mini Cooper. Those things are pocket rockets around town as I used to have one. Very fun.
Totally feel that and I thought the same exact thing, until I ended up driving one. You canāt tell it āonlyā has 192 horses under the hood. Itās also torque heavy.
I think a better comparison for the A4 Ultra is the new 2018 Accord 2.0T. The Honda has a lower MSRP by about 4K and performance just smokes the A4U. 0-60 in 5.8s, better lateral acceleration, more airbags, and 273-ftlb of torque if you like torque.
I like the Honda. Itās more space and more practical (against the A4 ultra). But yeah, some people like the badge. I get that too. Which is why, Benz.
Agreed. Accord Touring 2.0T is far superior, to the C300 especially, but it cost more a month to lease, so one saves money leasing the C300 or A4.
The Accord EX-L 1.5T is what typically leases in the range of an A4/C300.
If I wanted to buy a car and not lease, Iād buy an Accord 2.0T Touring and call it a day.
@Ursus
Is that not what you are doing when you reply to the thread with something non-related to the discussion?
Our discussion is related directly to the OP topic (pricing out a C300 lease).
I have not made one comment on this thread about any other vehicle other than the vehicle the OP is discussing and the lease pricing on that vehicle so I can utilize the info to structure my own lease. Isnāt that what this whole forum is about???
The OP even messaged me the final details of his/her deal which was helpful and conducive unlike your nazi posts.
I know a few optometrists if you need a referral. They tell me that when you spend too much time in front of a computer you can develop hyperopia.
Check your eyes, dummy. I was replying to mah4546. I mentioned you and wonkru just to remind you all to stay on topic. Then I told you to keep your ādealsā in your thread.
Um no you didnāt. And apparently you conveniently deleted your posts to cover up. Btw no need for insults. But seriously grow up and get a life.
I donāt delete my posts, itās all there. There is no immediate ādeleteā feature, anyway. Deleted posts stay visible for 24 hours, as far as I know.
Gotta love the internet.
mah was the one who baited me. I got sucked into it, defending the Benz a little bit. No hard feelings tho for everyone. If this thread is about deals, sometimes, itās possible someone who is shopping for a C300 might cross-shop for a Audi A4.
Yes- please donāt think this will apply to a 2017 or a 2019 (which has not been released yet)
The selling price indicates a discount of about $2,000 below invoice minus incentives. I would assume the lease price is probably $3,000 higher. The equivalent APRs on the leases is much lower than the available APRs on purchases, although there arenāt acquisition or disposition fees on a purchase, just the comforting knowledge that you own the car for whatever its worth later on.
