Deal Check on 2025 Volvo EX30 in CO - $35,858 3k Down $507/mo

What rebates are they giving you, specifically? We have one on order that’s arriving around the same time. Did you ask for a percentage off MSRP?

Thanks

What’s DAS?

The amount due at signing, which usually includes the first month’s payment and fees (acquisition, dealer doc, license & registration). However, it can be structured any way you want.

Sorry, but I did not have time to read the entire thread, but if you are in CO, did you have a chance to read that? I hope it will help

Does @Benedetto have any insight into the percentage off an EX30 one could expect or does he have one available, that you would then need to do a little more paperwork on the tax credit side of things.

Polestar 3 too.

Thank you! I’m trying to educate myself. I have this same car on order so I want to be prepared.

Can someone explain to me what makes this a bad deal? Is it because the lease payment is so high? Or is it because he’d be buying at MSRP? Is buying at MSRP always a bad deal regardless of rebates? And, last, if this person was going to buy the car after a couple of months- would it still be a terrible deal (because lease payments wouldn’t matter)?

Limited to none, to begin.

I also expect they will likely kill these or make them substantially more expensive if they are required to be build in the US .

I’m almost certain the initial pricing was based on Chinese production- they will get more expensive now that they’ve moved to Europe.

For starters, they are not getting a discount off MSRP (since it is a new model).
Second, there are better EVs that lease better.

No, it’s not. For example, buying a Porsche 911 at MSRP is considered a good deal.

Yes, because EVs depreciate faster than gas powered cars.

Depends on the car and effective price, cannot evaluate hypothetically.

They quoted the $5000 + $7500 for leasing an EV - and then I get an extra $500 to $1000 off through my employer.

I didn’t ask for percentage off MSRP - but I’m going to this week.

I used to think so too. Now, it depends…

Have you considered Genesis GV60 advanced? The deals have not been great elsewhere, not sure about Colorado, but maybe worth checking if you’re okay with that. Also comes with free charging.

Or Mustang Mach E? Longer but fairly narrow.

I think the curves are merging. Lux EVs depreciate a lot, but so do ultra lux ICE cars (7s, Ss, etc.)

Hello
I am looking at the same car! Did yours arrive yet? What was the money factor they quoted you for your lease? Thanks

They didn’t tell me. I was able to get it down to $500/mo flat with $0DAS though. Still seems steep to me for a $35k car… Mulling it over this weekend

The issue with the lack of a discount is because the vehicle is new. In a few months these will be leasing for a few hundred less a month.

However, if you do lease I get how the timing and the space works out for you–but please do not buy the car out.

One could argue well I’ll buy the car out and drive it into the ground, but with EVs you don’t want to do that because as it gets older its value may literally go to zero. Nobody will want EVs out of the battery warranty because the cost of replacement will be tens of thousands more than the car is worth. It’s almost like those 10 year old AMGs that need ceramic brake rotors that cost $20,000.

IRL the very narrow use case cheap EVs from 2013 are still worth something - Spark EV, Ford Focus Electric, etc.

Not saying you’re wrong about not buying out this EX30, but older EVs don’t just turn into pumpkins.
