Worst leases you've seen

From the pictures you can see it is from Keyes European in LA (everything is always marked up). Looks like the person only had it for a month or two… I wonder if they realized they are overpaying.

This dealership seems to have the worst deals. Was supposed to renew my lease last summer here but they quoted me $550 for a 330i with an MSRP of 44k I believe. Went elsewhere, first offer for a 330i with an even higher MSRP was basically $150 cheaper. Will never entertain them in the future, terrible

You still have option of an independent BMW specialist mechanic in your area. If you like the vehicle but hate the service dept, move to somebody else.

New BMWs come with free maintenance, so going to an independent would cost money.

If you want to see some very poor leases check out Swaplease.com. Their are some real vulnerable people out there.

Some of these must have insane neg equity and money factors

I think when looking at the overall health of the industry and economy these deals are useful. How many people with bad credit got in over their heads with awful deals?

and that paltry $1600 payment gets you an average of 182 (one hundred, eighty two) miles a month.

The worst lease I’ve ever had personally was my 2008 Infiniti G37S 6MT coupe, just a few short months after it was released. Once the car was eligible for VPP-A plan (Employee discount) I jumped all over it:
$42k MSRP
$480/mo (including MI 6% tax)
~$1200 total due at signing
39mo/15k miles

I drove from Detroit to Ft. Wayne, IN to get it, as all other dealers from Detroit/Chicago/Cleveland areas were well over $500/mo for similar models. Obviously I should have waited, but my previous 2006 G35 coupe lease had ended and I already extended it by 3 months, so Infiniti wouldn’t allow me to extend again.

Luckily I dumped it on Swapalease a year later because I changed jobs and put about 22,000 miles on the first year. Never had a lease payment over $350/mo again after that disaster.

Edit: For comparison, the best quote I got at the same time for a 2008 BMW 335 coupe 6MT with MSRP of $45k was $620/mo with $2500 due at signing. That was in Chicago, much higher volume market than Detroit. Needless to say, the Infiniti was a steal compared to the BMW.

That was probably the going rate at the time. I custom ordered a 335i 6mt cabrio with minimal markup ($500 over invoice, no other incentives IIRC), buyrate MF and it was $700 ish with 0 cap cost reduction. Even today, with MFs so low and RVs generally so high, it’s harder to hack coupes and convertibles.

What’s funny is people who are aware of lease hacking and still paying 1.25% of MSRP every month because “I want an Audi”

I can understand that to a degree, to some people its worth the extra $100 a month to be in the car they really want.

What really gets me are the people on the car specific forums touting the deal they got. Invoice pricing! Only $5k down! Only $600 a month on my $45k Alfa! Love it!

I almost caved and became that guy haha. Luckily I…lucked out.

Audis kill me because I love the new A4, and it’s the only affordable sports sedan with AWD and a manual transmission. But even a $40k model will lease for over $400/mo, even with rebates. The best quote I got in recent memory was a leftover 2016 A4 6MT with MSRP of $38k for $389/mo and $1800 due at signing. Barely above the 1% rule, but for an older model with refreshed models all over the lot, its wayyy too high. I was asking for $340/mo and only $1400 due at signing, while secretly agreeing to accept $350/mo. Turns out it was bought by one of the service technicians in the back. Whatta joke.

The $800 per month lease with $3k down on a 60k msrp s90 was impressive too.

This was so atrocious, I had to share.

That’s 32k in payments with the cash down. What was the residual amount given at the end?
