Which soccer team do you support?

Arsenal carried a senile old man for more than 10 years past his sell-by date, and then gave his “long term” replacement a few months.

yep, he didnt come with pre maintenance

If you look at how Arsenal have done since AW, you could make the case that he was over achieving with the squad he had.

SAF is what you call a Unicorn deal

As the special one put it, AW is a specialist in failure; looks like he read AWs books as of late though :slightly_smiling_face:

Too short a timeframe to judge any of the subsequent managers.

How on earth could anyone make a case AW over achieved past 2006?

The performance of a club is not just down the manager, I think Arsenal are a badly run club and the people making decisions about transfers etc are just not good enough.

Having said all that, I’m a Liverpool fan and don’t really care all that much ;).

Spot on! Klopp in Manchester (I wanted that so badly after Moyes) would have failed, Anfield is his perfect nest to work his theories!

Rodgers before him failed because these idiots owners Hicks and Gillett almost ruined the club.

He always had his say in all transfers, so…

Blue is the colour, football is the game
We’re all together and winning is our aim
So cheer us on through the sun and rain
Cos Chelsea, Chelsea is our name

I don’t see why (assuming he would have been given the same time to implement his tactics and get them to work).

At either the 12- or 18-month mark, he had fewer points from the same number of league games as Brendan Rodgers.

If he’d been sacked then, he would have been labeled a failure like Unai Emery or pretty much every other manager in the revolving doors known as Real Madrid or Chelsea FC.

Time is most important and something of a luxury that Managers don’t have; especially in today’s modern game or should I call it Business instead. I’m eluding to what I wanted at the time of the Moyes project…I was naive to think that Managers have the word at United solely because of being spoiled by the SAF/Gill collaboration…after the LVG and Mouinhos I’m simply carrying hope for top-4 rather then expectation for winning the league - that’s tough!

Woodward doesn’t apparently know how to negotiate because he overpays for everyone, but I haven’t seen him get in the way of his managers much in the transfer market. All the post-SAF managers have generally got the ones they wanted hence MUFC’s huge bills since then. If Klopp had wanted, say, Salah from Roma at Old Trafford, he probably would have gotten him.

Shame about the lack of time given to almost all managers these days.

That Brighton goal today

Can’t wait until it is revealed in 2021 that Liverpool had staff banging a trashcan in players tunnel at Anfield and, of course, supplied officials with underinflated balls.

Haha nope…Just the best coach in all of futbol with the best eye for talent.
