What do you guys think of iPhone Upgrade Program?

Correct autopay discount for using a CC is going away for all the three majors (the roll out is of course happening in waves for Tmobile in recent memory). CC is the superior form of payment with the carriers for reasons you mentioned, since all of them have shown that securing their payment system and customer information have been joke with breaches occurring almost monthly.

I know of the workaround as well, but the juice aint worth the squeeze.

Anyone know where to unlock an iPhone I just bought an iPhone SE 3rd for $150 but I’m locked to straight talk or total by Verizon I would like to use it with T-Mobile

Straight Talk requires that your iPhone be active for at least 12 months before it can be unlocked.

For Apple devices activated with new Straight Talk Service on the Straight Talk network on or after November 23, 2021, the device will be automatically unlocked sixty (60) days after activation in the absence of an indication of fraud.

This policy is applicable to any VZ MVNO

no it doesn’t. on iphones it requires 61 days.

check the slickdeals thread. the phone requires 61 days of being with straight talk. you just need to activate 1 month and don’t actually even need to pay for the 2nd month. it’ll unlock after the 2nd month.

So if I pay for one month service it’ll be unlocked?

Is this being flipped or repurposed for F&F abroad?

I sold my 14 Pro so I bought the iPhone SE to use for basically about 1 month until the new iPhone release

pay for 1 month, then let it sit for another month, then it’ll be unlocked. or, if you need to use the phone, pay for 2 months.

With the new iphone releasing, anyone think the ā€œtrade in to upgradeā€ deals will be worth it? Will we get 1k to upgrade to the new iphone?

Let me fire up the magic 8 ball…

This should be the phone that folks who have been putting off that upgrade want, so demand should be plenty. The issue here I guess is the trade in offers have been pretty garbage, and they’re upto their usual tricks of disguising blessings/increase service costs by offering you a ā€œfree subsidized phoneā€.

The only real deals are from MVNOs who are climbing over each other for marketshare. They come with their own issues but again lowest tc.

So what was the TCO on the 14 Pro, net, positive, or negative after taxes, accessoriers?

Well I only need it for one month anyway maybe I’ll sell it back once its unlock.

For me it doesn’t make sense because in order to get back $1k trade in you have the have the highest plan that they offer so basically its somewhat included in the plan each month to make people think there phone is worth more. For instance 5 lines with the highest tier with T-mobile is $220 while essential is $120 which is what I have.

I’m gonna disagree with the analyst though. iPhone folk will gladly fork over more money for the Apple experience.

Right now I have the essential plan can I switch to go5gplus for 1 month just to trade in my iPhone XR for $800 and get the iPhone 14 and switch back to essential plan?

Just found out they divide the $800 into 24 months they don’t just give you the $800 not really worth it since it’s $220 per month for 5 lines just to upgrade every two years and make you think you get a free upgrade when it’s basically included in the monthly price.

that’s how they get you. at&t is doing the same bullshit with their unlimited plans AND extending the credits over 36 months instead of 24.
