Is this different from other luxury brands? I legitimately donā€™t know. Is it that people donā€™t think of Volvo as a ā€œluxuryā€ brand so want it to cost the same as the mainstream brands?

People donā€™t buy a Volvo because they like volvo. They buy it because an x3 or glc are more expensive. Look at the upcoming EX30, $35,000. Volvo is trying to be as cheap as possible, not as GOOD as possible.

How are the x3 and glc expensive compared to the xc60. Pricing is pretty much the same.

Anecdotally speaking, everyone I know who went the Volvo route did so because there is better value in it compared to BMW, MB, etc. They are not particularly partial to the badge. Personally, if I had to choose between an XC90 or a GLC or X3, I would seriously consider the XC90. If it was between that and the X5, definitely the X5 for me.
