Says the guy who posted sources from the freedom foundation.
You want me argue with you that prior to federal taxation the country wasn’t built by slave and cheap immigrant labor? That workers did not die due to lack of any safety standards or social programs? That we did not have mostly dirt roads? Or that it is ridiculous to depend on “Americans’ charity” as a reasonable option to get back on my feet after getting fired or my hand cut off at work?
Slavery was abolished in 1865
That is why we have OSHA. I am not an anarchist. I don’t want to abolish all of the government
Of course we had mostly dirt roads. The technology for modern roads didn’t exist yet.
There are a myriad of charities that help people in all kinds of situations that exist independent of the government due to charitable donations.
I’m not sure what you are trying to argue now. Without federal income tax our standard of living would still be at 19th century level.
Thanks, man! That was the funniest thing I’ve read today to be associated and called for spreading right-wing propaganda.
I don’t give a FF what you or anyone thinks of the goodness of socialism and voting YES to build it. I’ve learned long ago if people want first-hand experience nothing will stop them and by all means, please, do try to build a better version of socialism that anyone tried before.
I won’t be stopping you or anyone wanting to try it. Life is too short. I will watch this with popcorn from the sidelines of another country.
I think he was being sarcastic or something. But I’m just curious how socialism hurt you so much. I lived it too, but there are a certain things I remember weren’t too bad.
How do income taxes raise the standard of living? That is what free markets and capitalism does. Please explain what role taxation plays in raising living standards?
The number of people living in extreme poverty worldwide declined by 80 percent from 1970 to 2006. People living on a dollar a day or less dramatically fell from 26.8 percent of the global population in 1970 to 5.4 percent in 2006 – an 80 percent decline.
Poverty worldwide included 94 percent of the world’s population in 1820. In 2011, it was only 17 percent.
Globally, those in the lower and middle income brackets saw increases in pay of 40 percent from 1988 to 2008.
Mortality rates for children under the age of five declined by 49 percent from 1990 to 2013.
If I understand you correctly you postulate that income taxes and government has accomplished all this?
I’m sure those numbers are legit since they came from the Freedom Foundation or similar, so I’m not going to address them. However, the fact that income tax makes it possible to have social programs and send foreign aid which helps lift people out of poverty, thanks for making my point.
Dude I was joking. I agree with you 100% did you read anything else I posted? Socialism causes death and destruction. Please speak out and let everyone know about it. What I was joking about is you can tell people you lived through it and it was crap and they will tell you you are wrong because of some video they watched online.
Funny how people say socialist sucks, you could only choose 1 out of 3 available car companies, for example. Forget the fact that before imports, in the US you basically could also choose 1 of 3 available crappy car companies.
This is going to be my last post. You have not refuted a single fact or figure I have given you. You keep saying I am wrong however I have challenged you several time to show me how I was wrong and what fact or figure I said was wrong and you have not done so. I thought maybe you were open to an alternative point of view however whenever I present you with facts that challenge you all you do is insult or move the goal post.
Your point of view is that 19th century was awesome for everyone, I can’t argue with that, it is just too absurd.
I was trying to see it as sarcasm but I wasn’t getting it.
Certain things weren’t as with everything once you get used to the system and start finding positives if whatever you have left. Like everyone had the same toys, furniture and there was no need to keep up with the Jones because you just could not really buy unless you were approved to do so by the communist party.
I remember food lines, I remember those stupid ration card that you buy only a certain amount of food.
I remember we had to grow our food like potatoes on whatever small land was given to us even though we lived on the military base in an apartment building. Kindergartens with 30 toddlers for 2 teacher and metal potties.
These are just the most vivid parts.
I was trying to keep up but it wasn’t easy especially with numbers of posts lately.
I misunderstood you then! My bad.
Are you talking about the 90’s or the post war 50’s, lol? I don’t consider what happened in the 90’s being “Socialism”, but actually a sharp turn to capitalism without knowing what the hell they were doing. If fact, Gorbachev was gradually changing the economic policy, which would have been the right approach, before he got ousted.
Government standards made the big 3 make shitty cars. Before the 70s these companies made great cars
You can blame the government all you want, but Japanese were abiding by the same standards, yet they made reliable cars. Besides, it took US manufacturers 50 years to catch up, if you consider their modern cars decent?
I’m not that old to personally live through post WW2. Those times I know only from grandparents generation stories and recent historical archives.
I only lived 80s and 90s yet we were told and believed we are building communism.
In the US we are told we are building nothing, but to fear everything. We have tons of social programs, no one is calling that Socialism. But when you try fix or expand a few more, suddenly it’s death and destruction.
Lately it looks like the powers that be have given us a choice of either of the Big 3: [XxHaimBondxX],
[Lvs23], or [CapsCup2018] in life…
