At least it’s legalized and organized and we can find out how much each politician cost:)
Better than in Russia when you don’t know any of that and can and will go to jail for making this info public
I think in Russia it was much easier. If you wanted something done, you knew exactly whose palm to grease.
It used to be easy. Now prices have risen and people got a bit more scared/secretive.
In the 90ties it was wild Wild West:)

Venezuela is it is an example occurring right now of what happens when socialism is taken to its inevitable conclusions.
You need to get out more…and certainly stop with the right wing propaganda. The entire Europe is socialist and last time i checked many of these countries were ahead of US on many living standards and metrics. Healthcare and education is not something to be left to capitalism. Stop being afraid of your shadow.
Man right wing left wing. Same bias and same bias for their viewpoints. I like my health insurance and want to keep it. Why is it so hard to have that. And dont like politicians that promise i can keep it but exclude themselves from what they create.

It’ll be interesting to revisit this statement in a few years when unchecked immigration policies start to take their toll on tax revenues. Hard to compare Europe to the us due to population differences. But we will soon see the effect of socialist policies with an overburdened system. Lowering interest rates anymore isn’t possible, couple that with automation taking away jobs, and it’s a very bleak future for America and Europe alike. It’s a race to the bottom and the money printing can’t continue forever. Also what are the youth unemployment rates in these socialist utopias?
that’s adding an extra variable to the existing equation, doesn’t mean the system set up previously was not working. The opposite must be true, once we get rid of all of our immigrants, everything will be just peachy.
I’ve lived through the shitshow of runaway hyperinflation, stupid money reform, currency devaluations and I don’t want to do it again.
I’ve lived in that peachy socialism - done with that.
I’d rather get popcorn and get the heck outta here (unlike certain celebrities promised to do that upon results of 2016 election) for sure once construction begins.
I’m not waiting for the next great socialist builder be it Mao, Stalin, Maduro, or Castro begin their construction site in US
No, thank you very much.

You do realize these are capitalistic consequences, right? I mean if we cared about people we would had put a stop to automation long ago…add corporate welfare on top and realize socialism is bad except when big biz gains from it…privatize profits and socialize losses.
Crony capitalism or corporatism, yes. Just bc I’m anti socialism doesn’t mean I’m pro our current system…simple math proves neither of these systems are sustainable. Our rulers like to only give us 2 choices. Their use of the Hegelian dialectic doesn’t work when we have more than 2 choices, aka the thesis and antithesis.

You need to get out more…and certainly stop with the right wing propaganda.
And there it is. Congratulations we managed to go almost an entire day having a civil discussion on this thread and here you come with the ad hominem attack.
There is not one single country in Europe that is socialist. Having social programs and high taxes does not make a country socialist. They are all capitalist market economies. You should get your facts straight before insulting people.
A socialist country has the means of production, distribution, and exchange owned or regulated by the government.
Insults do not change facts.

Capitalism has pulled over 1 billion people out of poverty. That is a fact. What has socialism done for this world?
Besides kept our population in check…?
It is so appropt that this conversation stemmed from a conversation about our pathetic school system. Because that is the only way you end up with a generation of people thinking socialism is a good idea.
For people that don’t understand why there on strike !!
Copied from Mat Rivera’s gm employee post. Couldn’t have said it any better!!!
Family and friends. As you may have heard, The UAW General Motors has decided to strike tonight at 11:59.
This includes my plant in Parma. This has been a fight I’ve been itching to get into since the orchestrated bankruptcy in 2009. I lost my life savings because of that bankruptcy, through no fault of my own.
General Motors was bailed out using tax payer dollars, both yours and mine. The UAW also gave in to many concessions with the promise that all would be returned when the company started making money again.
The company came out of bankruptcy a mere 40 days later and has been making a profit since. The past 4 years they have averaged right around 12 billion dollars in earning each year. 12 Billion dollars!
When we returned to work that first week after the bankruptcy we were told that management already had their COLA or cost of living raises returned to them, we did not.
We sat and watched on the news as execs continued to receive huge salaries and bonuses. We did not. I worked for 12 years without a single raise. We watched as plants have closed. We have worked along side people making much less than us. We have watched any job they could get outsourced. We have watched outside contractors come into our buildings and do our work. We have watched as corruption has filled the headlines, both from the executive side and the UAW side.
They have shown their gratitude for the bailout by pitting plant against plant, shipping both jobs and resources to foreign countries.
Enough is enough.
I’m grateful for my job and blessed to have it. I know this. But please keep this in mind when you watch the news, not only are we fighting for ourselves but we are fighting for you. I’m just an average guy, all of my friends are average folks. We aren’t just fighting for ourselves but for the entire middle class.
I write this because I’m asking for support. Not for me but for all of us. You don’t have to picket or quit your job or anything like that. If you drive by,give a us wave or a honk. Let us know that even though you may not understand it all you still support us. Everyone deserves good wages and to be treated fairly. Support us as we lead the charge. We are really doing this for all of us. Enough is enough.
Thank you to all of my friends and family that have already taken the time to post and text. I love you all.
Which also correlates perfectly to the unions usurping as much power as possible to maintain their status quo. Cui bono?

not only are we fighting for ourselves but we are fighting for you.
No, pretty sure they’re not fighting for me.

they have averaged right around 12 billion dollars in earning each year. 12 Billion dollars!
Perhaps in gross profit. Not in net earnings.

Let us know that even though you may not understand it all you still support us.
I’m not at all sure why I should support something that I don’t fully understand? It’s sort of like signing a lease w/o knowing the MF…
I don’t have strong feelings about the workers going on strike. But I don’t think posting a communication that contains some significant factual errors is helpful.
I like how he takes no personal responsibility right from his first statement. He lost his life savings through no fault of his own? People like this beg for authoritarianism and deflect blame to everyone but themselves. If he’s worth 95k/yr he should be able to take his skill set somewhere that will pay him his worth.
They paid 0 in taxes the last ten years so yeah that’s profit
