Tesla Supercharging - Experiences & Discussion

I’m more curious as to why you’re so far north!

That’s not that far. Only halfway to Albany.

Says the one who took his Tesla from LI to the Catskills and back in one day. There, I even made it relevant to this thread!

Huge 64 Tesla Supercharger location opened up near my house!

And the price is very low ($0.39/kWh) all day every day!

Where besides California is this inexpensive?

Anywhere an EA is at 56c/kWh non member price or more.

Also outrageous compared to 0.077.

Just more outrageous.

My normal rate is 26c/kWh but with free nights.

Home charging during the day is $0.61/kWh but at night drops to $0.26/kWh.

Since Tesla Superchargers are less cost than charging during the day (weekdays) at home, I charge on the road at Tesla SC frequently. I also get 4% back on my Citi Costco VISA card which helps at the end of the year on my Costco shopping…

But then you have to live in Ohio.

The national average is 16 cents per kWh for home charging. 7.7 cents is very much an outlier. 30 cents to 50 cents per kWh is typical for public charging.

So to recap:

You forgot something while cherry-picking

Public fast charging is what is being compared here. You are comparing at-home charging prices in a low cost to live area with public charging prices, which naturally are more expensive.

You’re comparing it to public charging options.

I wasn’t.

I inferred from the original comment that 39 cents is cheap compared to the person’s home charging option (palm trees suggest CA), because of the enthusiasm that a 39 cent option just opened up near his house.

I’ll give you the last word, as I’m really not in the mood to landfill myself.

Well yeah, tap water is much cheaper than bottled water too. But just like L2 vs. L3 charging they’re products for different markets so comparing price isn’t very useful.

Broke down and signed up for the Tesla $12.99/mo other-EV subscription… This is so much better than EA.

Same here - have had Tesla’s $12.99 subscription for 5 months now and the 25% lowet rates that Tesla owners pay makes it cheaper to charge at Tesla than EA or EVGo…

They probably just did a bad cut & paste when updating the website. Nissan will probably drop back to Coming Soon shortly. :upside_down_face:
