So can you sell a US bank lease to carmax? I thought you couldn’t trade those in anywhere.
Ive been getting offers all day and i just save the highest one i keep getting. My offer went up $200 just today which i saved. To answer your question, it does not lock it in until it expires
You can trade it’s the fact they charge market value. Your buyout =/= dealer buyout.
It keeps fluctuating every time you do a new appraisal quote. Even if you hit the button to save the offer, all it does is email that specific number to you. From my experience, once you physically bring the car in and get a price, the system knows this, and will tell you to come in for a price quote from that point forward so you can’t keep checking to see if the price changes.
Thanks everyone for your input. I will keep checking and it sounds like it’s safe to “save” the offer when the figure increases.
I checked with US Bank myself, the agent was able to tell me the number of both dealer payoff and payoff for myself. She said that I can sell it to carmax and even wish me good luck!
I then called the carmax in East Haven to have them get the dealer payoff quote before I drove off from Jersey. Carmax staff called back within 1 hour confirming the dealer payoff which matched what I was told by US Bank. Basically residual+all payments left in my case, not bad for a 7 months old lease. 408xx payoff, carmax offered 43600, higher than carvana and vroom.
I still see my US Bank account open. Hope they get it wrapped up before end of month, next due date is May 1st.
the joke is “whole foods, whole paycheck”
I really wish CarMax had some type of way to alert you that they don’t sell your model of car when you come in for an appraisal. Wasted an hour+ to have the salesman come back with a laughably low offer due to them only wholesaling Alfa Romeo vehicles. Maybe my first clue should’ve been not being able to generate an online offer.
Carvana it is.
04/20/21 - UPDATE - logged onto my Volvo VCFS account. The 2019 Volvo XC40 is no longer listed as my vehicle. It was there yesterday so I am assuming that they took the payment that CarMax sent them as payoff. Entering my account number to add my vehicle returned response that account could not be found. After calling the Volvo Customer Service number, automated system indicates that the account has been paid off 04/19/21… Woohoo!!!
05/01/21 - UPDATE - just found the XC40 I sold to CarMax posted https://www.carmax.com/car/20319127
Listed for $36,998 with 5 saves
05/10/21 - UPDATE - just received a Payoff Overage check from VCFS for the amount of $1,599.04.
This is the breakdown of what VCFS provided as my payoff:
Contract Obligation (residual value): $23,331.55
Sales Tax Due: $1,604.95
Estimated State (CT) Property Tax Amount: $1,031.67
Purchase Option (Disposition) Fee: $350.00
Seems that some taxes were refunded…
My online offer $31,500 for my 2019 Volvo XC40 T5 R-Design remained the same offer after brought in for appraisal.
Little update. So both carmax and US Bank are super fast. Sold my Jeep to carmax last Monday the 12th. My US Bank account is closed as of Monday the 17th and I was told that they received the payoff check and processed the payment on April 15th.
How long does it take for CarMax to payoff lease? Sold Highlander to CarMax in NY on Monday of last week. It’s been over a week now and my TFS account still shows up as not paid off. I also have upcoming payment next Monday which I was hopping to be covered by CarMax by now.
If it’s TFS than should be this week or May be your bank already got payment but didn’t close the account yet.
2018 Mazda CX-9 sport. Lease up Nov 2021. Payoff: $20,312. Carmax bought for $20,800. Made a tiny little profit and got out my lease early and into a bigger, better suv for me and my family for around the same price. Thanks everyone who helped in the other threads!
Sold my 2017 Toyota RAV4 LE to CarMax, lease was set to expire on September. I had this car for 3 years, 8 month, made addition 1 year lease extension. I kept the car because of pandemic, low payments, second car. Payoff was around $14000, CarMax offered me $16,000. Easy process. It took CarMax about two weeks to pay it off.
I sold the car about one week before my next lease payment. Since it took more time to close my account, I was concerned about making addition payment without having the car. Waited few more days, saw account was closed, everything looks good right now, no addition payment required.
anyone else got their free ride from East Haven CarMax? I am going tomorrow and am wondering if I need to buy bus tickets to get back to Long Island.
Sold my 2006 Lexus RX330 to CarMax at $6.5k. It has 105k miles on it according to the odometer.
Checked both carvana $4.5k and vroom $1.4K - carmax offered the highest.
My guess is it depends on your model and your residence state, I would check all possible websites in order to land on a decent offer.
just sold my 20 Crv exl at east haven ct location. payoff 28100 and offer was 30800, net 2700. I used the car for 7 months which cost me $2250 so basically drove a car for free and made 450 on top. Very quick service too in and out under the hour. Early appointments are better because by 11am the line was pretty long and when I got there at 10 it was empty. car had a very long scratch on hood but did not affect offer.
Did you put down MSDs when you leased? Were those returned to you?
Did you have to pay a disposition fee?
Thanks
I did not put any MSDs; however, those should be returned to you since these are deposits. The disposition fee is included in the Payoff amount so yes it was paid. My payoff also included CT state taxes and Town Property taxes. One can send a secure message via the VCFS Website and ask for the break down on the Payoff as well as MSD. It may take a few days for a response but at least you will have it in writing/email.
