Silverado EV, who’s throwing in a reservation?

In order to be truly useful for towing the pack really needs to be double the base size or 50% larger than the ER.

It also needs to be able to pull max amps from CCS ~540A up to 80% for best charging curve since it’s currently built on a 400V system.

Seeing what’s happening with the lightning, Silverado EV and hummer doesn’t give me great hope for my Ram REV “reservation”. I’m not confident they can deliver a 225 kwh vehicle in any trim for less than $85k in todays money. Let alone what it will cost in late-2024/2025 money. Plus, production numbers are a joke for some of these.

The gas savings is going to be nearly evaporated with how SDG&E is raising rates. I might as well pick up a limited 1500 once that 0% financing works its way upward a few more trims.

This doesn’t mean the Silverado EV is being pushed back… just ramping up building them at Orion.’

Primary factory for Silverado EV is Zero Factory I believe.

What I think is they are realizing that demand is waning and don’t need the extra capacity.

Reminds me… need to get a refund for my reservation. Gonna spend it on an EV9.

Factory ZERO has a capacity of 270,000 units per year. Split between…Hummer pickup, Hummer SUV, Silverado EV, Sierra EV and now Escalade EV.

Factory ZERO is not near large enough for their planned EV transition.

The Orion factory that was set to be online producing EV pickups sometime in 2024, will eventually have a capacity of 600,000 units per year. The bulk of their units.

This delay is quite a significant announcement. Anyone planning on getting an Escalade EV, get ready to wait years.

Given the slowdown in desire for EV trucks (like the Lightning), 270k may be enough.

Last article I saw, in today’s mineral prices…the REV battery alone cost $26,000.

At some point Mary Barra is going to catch some heat for this botched EV transition and investment. Delays after delays, promises after promises.

2021 - Mary Barra…Tesla’s lead is temporary, we can absolutely catch Tesla by 2025.

LOL

She meant to say… GM will catch where Tesla was in 2010 by 2025.

Where Tesla is going right now, GM and Tesla will eventually overlap in the line for bailouts, so transition to EV is going exactly as expected.

Yeah I just saw that too. I’m guessing the Tungsten trim or TRX-EV will roll out first to cover some losses. No way they can make money on a Bighorn or tradesman EV.

So is anyone one of the 352 who GOT a Silverado EV and already had to bring it back for a Recall?

RST Order Banks Open on Monday the 11th !

https://gmauthority.com/blog/2024/03/dealers-now-taking-2024-chevy-silverado-ev-rst-first-edition-orders/

Not even 3 days ago I cancelled my order for a WT to get the deposit back since I had no clue what was going on with these. I almost cancelled my RST reservation too, but figured I would give them another month or two. Just got the email to prepare to order on Monday, today.

You gonna get a $100k truck and flip it?

That would be ideal but I don’t have high hopes. Its certainly no Cybertruck lol

Man, just found out today that GM won’t let you change the dealership that you take your Sierra EV Edition 1 Reservation. So if you move or want to pick a new dealership, you’re not allowed to do it.

Cancelled both my reservations today.

I have a 23 with lift kit, still on fence if i should get one. But it will be a purchase

They allowed Silverado but not Sierra? odd

EV concierge told me the Sierra was different, and refused to switch my dealership. I asked them why but they just said, it sounds like I don’t want my sierra, then helped me to cancel. Then I helped my neighbor cancel too.

Maybe they thought I was like @anon65069371 and would flip the truck?

Flip it where into the ocean?

You are in no danger of buying an American product sir
