GM did a great job of over promising and under delivering on this thing, wondering if I should just refund by deposit. Hertz has them but still says “Silverado EV RST available first half 2024” on Chevy’s website. The first half of the year is almost over, what a joke. Let’s get everyone excited about the possibility of a well priced EV truck and then delay delivery to retail customers and jack the price way up, gee I wonder why people have lost interest? I certainly have
Judging by the release of several Chevrolet tutorial videos for the Silverado EV RST in the past few weeks, and the surge of videos from the familiar EV YouTube channels (Out of Spec, TFLEV, Auto Buyers Guide, etc.) in the past week, it seems that the launch is about to occur. There were also some Equinox vids and another for the police versions of the Blazer EV.
I listened to the Silverado EV RST videos as background noise, so this is a barebones summary. Price is the big negative, followed by cabin noise caused by the mid-gate (versus the WT trims), and there is arguably too much plastic for the price. For a truck that can do truck things, it leads the way thanks to its massive fast-charging battery. Apparently it can use the Chevrolet mapped road autonomous features while towing. The quality of the ride is hindered by large wheel size and recommended tire pressure, and maybe for those reasons did not appear to be much better than the WT trims.
They are already available at MSRP. Who is gonna spend $70K on a work truck.
When is the LH blog post about a $399 monthly full size Chevy EV truck going to drop?
Spoke to a Chevy GSM, give it 1-2yr, their sales/reservations are not going planned
The ones that don’t know how to use power tools, but know everything
My Chevy reservation rep is telling me to lease a Blazer EV while I wait for the Silverado.
I’ve driven a Silverado EV 4WT and honestly it was a nice drive. Brake feel was among the best blended systems I’ve experienced, and I had no complaints about ride and handling. GM usually does a good job with chassis tuning and their powertrains. Base interior was cheap but to be expected for a work truck.
It’s way better than Cybertruck at doing truck things – better range while towing and faster charging for less money. But I fear Silverado EV is not going to sell, especially the $100K RST version. At that price for a truck, people aren’t thinking about functionality or specs – they want shock and awe, and Cybertruck does that.
The sweet spot will be LT trim, end of year will be released. If the RST sit on the lot for awhile which is going to like F150. Their gonna have price reductions.
How was it compared to the Lightning?
I feel like the F-150 EV is the standard for full size trucks right now… sort of like ICE trucks.
Shop 3/4 ton higher trim trucks for functionality & specs. $100k doesn’t buy much these days. I agree that I don’t see the Silverado EV selling terribly well. They’re already late to the party and GM truck guys really like their ICE’s.
You’re dead on about the cybertruck; the people love it because it’s “look at me factor” is off the charts. If it blended in more, aesthetically, it would likely lose a fair percentage of its popularity. Whether it’s ugly or not may be subjective, but it undeniably makes a bold statement.
My hummer ev came in this past weekend … it’s still at the dealer I have not taken delivery. Lease is 1700/mo w/pa 9% mo tax 24mo o down ….great spec but I can’t do it. I drove it and it’s very underwhelming.
Sut with 114k sticker before I get asked
damn! I haven’t gotten my options email yet
52 RST’s are showing up on a nationwide search of Autotrader, and the Chevrolet build page for the Silverado EV now lets you build RST’s.
If you can wait, their gonna drop 10-15k off sticker by end of the year. Plus other trims will be available
Probably much more. The market for $100k trucks is dead.
I hope so, ill be here waiting lol
My kids did love the rear seats on the Silverado EV WT at the car show, but between its giant nose making me afraid I’ll splatter a kid and the price, I don’t think it’s coming home.
