When I used to rent Teslas in Hawaii and had extra time I just used Charge Point or EvGo chargers when I had my FREE charging with them, or the FREE Volta’s at the Ala Moana Mall…otherwise just pay for DCFC or return between 10%-70% for a $25-$35 fee :call_me_hand:

Been a busy past 5 weeks.

24 Ford Expedition Limited, Hertz MCO, $58/day plus taxes and fees, had minor ford death wobble at 80mph, got some money off.

25 Mazda CX-90 3.3 Premium Sport, AVIS, still drove like a dream, a great highway warrior, and great in the snow storm mid January

25 Ford Expedition Active, AVIS, snow day from two weeks ago, took a day trip and asked for anything with AWD and offered this.

2026 RAM 1500 Laramie, National Executive Aisle MCO, a sea of rouges and compasses, a Pacifica, an explorer, and this! Pretty nicely optioned and rode like a cloud.

2026 BMW X3 xdrive30i, National Executive Aisle MCO, there was a bunch of brand new fully loaded Mitsubishi Outlander PHEVs with <30 miles, which I was ready to take because I’ve always been interested in trying one, but I briefly asked the reps at the desk how much the X3 parked in specialty would be and they just handed me the keys!

Honorable mentions:

25 Kia Telluride S, AVIS, needed a 7 passenger for the day, they’re pretty smooth.

(2) 25 Mazda CX-50 Hybrid Premium Plus, very nicely equipped, one-wayed one from EWR and one from PHL

26 Honda HR-V EX-L, loaner for the prologue, seats hard as a rock

Avis at IAD. Tahoe z71 with 23k miles.

Unwashed and quickly cleaned but was the “best vehicle on the lot” per the desk lady. My rental was for a Lincoln Navigator or similar, but they didn’t have any so cut 25% off my rate and stuck me in the Tahoe. Works out to ~$50/day.

The infotainment and wireless charging are much better than the Expedition I had last month. The Tahoe feels like it rides a bit higher too.

Z71 package has more ground clearance.

Over the past two months, I rented a 2025 Wagoneer Series II L and a 2024 Ford Expedition Max. I was pleasantly surprised by how eager the Wagoneer was to step out a bit if you got on the throttle from a stop while turning, and its interior felt noticeably nicer than the Expedition’s. That said, I ended up enjoying the Expedition more overall, which honestly caught me off guard. It was a beast on a five hour highway drive.

Question for the car guys/gals in here. I’m flying down to Orlando next Friday and then driving over to Clearwater to catch a Phillies Spring training game. I’m looking to rent something fun for the trip. Here’s my choices, which would you pick?

I owned a C8 for 2 years, so that’s not really moving the needle. I rented a 740i for my niece’s prom last year and liked it a lot. I feel like that would be nice on the highway and is the cheapest of the bunch. However, I’ve been wanting to drive a 911 for a while and this might be the perfect time. If I ended up with a Jag or SL, I wouldn’t be mad at that either.

luxury performance sport

you’ll likely get a base 911

Sounds like you answered your own question. Possible to call and confirm a day or 2 prior to arriving?

You’ll be lucky to connect to an onsite employee, period. Most airport locations are impossible.

I’m not a Porsche guy at all, I’m gonna check and see how base 911s are equipped. Last time I selected this class I got an AMG GT coupe.

They usually contact me a few days before to get insurance info and what not.

If they can guarantee the 911 then get that, Corvette would be my choice
Prices are the same since 2017 when I rented in Miami a 911 Cabriolet for $200/day a couple of days after Irma hit… was fun, I left the top down all the time for easy In/Out as I’m 6’03" haha

I’m still crying over the days when I rented new Z06’s for <$200 per day with unlimited mileage

Was yours base back then?

I rented one from Hertz, that was my first time driving a supercharged car. I was just praying I didn’t wreck it lol.

Pretty predictable power. Fun car to drive and sounded great. I rented 2 or 3 of them. Never did rent a zl1 (owned a 6 speed), but I did rent the gt500. Now they have basically nothing for their trophy rental. :poop:

Base 911 vert is most likely. I tried it out at SAN last year. It was just fine - wouldn’t rent it again. Really civilized, didn’t sound great, kinda boring to drive. At a different Enterprise Exotics location, they mentioned that that Luxury Performance Sport class is almost exclusively 911s at all EE locations. I’d love if they switched to the SL55 or 63 instead - got a 63 from Sixt a couple years ago that was waaaay better (obviously not a fair comparison),

The 7 series isn’t a bad price. However, if a 5 series is available through Enterprise or Sixt for cheaper, that would be my first choice. The 5 series is my go-to rental, and at this point I probably wouldn’t pay much of a premium, if any, for a 7.

Though, on second thought, I took a quick scan at rental prices that weekend and the 7 series is looking like a better and better deal…

I think I remember your savage review of the car at the time haha. You’re not completely wrong.. I would agree that the 911 can be boring to drive, especially civilly or in traffic. My 992.1 S was far too quiet for my liking even with PSE (sport exhaust). Driving fast and/or driving on backroads the car can be fun.

Dug into some of the archives ha. These were some of my previous fun rentals, other than a friend had that GT Convertible..
