I’m gonna check and see what the options are under the luxury Performance category. If I’m not interested, I’ll just go with the 7 Series.
@zaimer These were my top fun rentals. The Camaro was just an SS but it was free upgrade bc of a dirty base model lol. The AMG was probably my favorite overall.
I ALMOST rented one of those Hendrick SS’s. I had one rented but that was when I switched into the GT500 ha. I told myself I didn’t need to spend the extra money for an upgrade and the guy at the counter wasn’t offering a great deal (for the GT500). I had already owned a 6spd 2SS, so the Hertz SS wasn’t anything real special to me. I took the keys and got into the Camaro. It had a ton of mileage and smelled like smoke or something - I was like NOPE. Back inside for the GT500 keys I went. Guess it was meant to be.
2026 Nissan Pathfinder with 8 miles on the clock. Rented using Booking.com for $250 for a week at Fort Lauderdale Airport. Went to the Keys for a week. I was pleasantly surprised with the car.
A few years before the PM tags I remember a time when it felt like every other car in Orlando had Tennessee plates from Blount County. I think it was Hertz doing that.
Ah, I didn’t know it was a recent change. I rlly wonder what’s stopping rental car companies to mostly register in MT, DE, NH, etc as opposed to everywhere.
2026 BMW 530i xDrive from SIXT LAX. I really like this car. It rides comfortable and looks pretty good. I really wish this came with Driver Assistance Professional Package so I can test it out and compare it to Supercruise. It also worth noting that basic adaptive cruise control isn’t standard. I heard that DAPP is a hit-and-miss in SIXT rental fleet.
My biggest complaint is how terrible the wireless charging pad is. I rented a 2 series in the past and the wireless charging pad is also terrible. My cousin also told me that his friend’s 2025 5-series also has a bad wireless charging pad. I think it is consistent in the BMW lineup. I just have to charge my phone using a USB C cable.
DFW National Executive. Many “nicer” cars available but I hadn’t driven an accord since I sold my 2007 EX 5 sp. This only had 1k on it and was one of the better vehicles I’ve rented in some time. Can see why they continue to sell so well. The only minor gripe is the new turbo is just a tad coarser than the old 2 liter.
I ended up going with the 911, it indeed was the base model. Initial thoughts, I’d take the C8 over this 10 times outta 10. Tomorrow, I’m hitting the road and heading to Clearwater. Let’s see if my feelings change.
I think there is some rule where the rental car companies have to register cars to each state in rough proportions of their business activity in each state.
But within a state, all bets are off, so the rental car companies will jurisdiction shop within states that have cross-country registration fee variation (like Tennessee).
I have roughly noticed that cars I suspect are ‘at-risk’ / fully owned cars (vs. program cars on loan from the OEM) are more likely to be FL plates, maybe because that’s where the titles are held, but this is just a guess of mine.
