You’ve been lucky then. They constantly bait and switch deals.
IMO and based on experience they have the best offers to buy a leased cars (including Hyundai and Kia) and i think they make some money doing that.
Between my friends and family Rodo has purchased from us 6 leased cars so far. They charge $500 fee but still the best offers comparing to all 3rd party online buyers.
Sold my 2021 RX to RODO in April (or so I thought). Car was picked up April 15. Equity check was promised in 3-5 business days, payoff to LFS - in 8-10 days. It’s been a month, I have neither.
Acquision managers that were setting up the deal/arranging pickup now ghosting my emails/calls. General customer service reps are useless, they are just parroting the script that check/payoff should arrive any day now. Tried contacting their head of customer support who replies personally to google reviews - no replies.
They have my freaking car that I just paid another month on, and I have nothing at this point. Any suggestions on how to proceed?
Call and tell them you’re going to report it stolen and see if that gets you higher up in the food chain? Legal demand letter?
I thought about it, yeah, at this point threatening with legal options is the only one I see now.
I mean at this point is it unreasonable to think, if you put the circumstances in a bubble, that you’re the victim of a scam and your car was stolen? If it was any other private party and not a large and somewhat supposedly reputable company, that’s probably what any reasonable person would assume.
I would retain an attorney and send a demand letter to their registered agent demanding to be paid or the vehicle will be reported as stolen. Give them 1-2 weeks to reply.
Depending on your state I might be able to help
you talkin’ to me?
No sir
Say Bupkis Paulie! Say Bupkis!
Elgin Swift is the main guy on the wholesale side: eswift@rodo.com
They are a known bunch of scumbags so good luck!
If they are doing what I think they are doing, they are probably running their cars through at a Manheim auction with the title absent/pending, hoping to hit their number before they pay it off and send you what was promised. It’s possible that they had a bad day at the track and it didn’t sell? Shouldn’t be your problem at all but that’s just my hunch as to what’s going on. Manheim LotVision could be helpful here. Just pick the auction location that’s closest to where the car was picked up and search for the VIN: Lot Vision - MyManheim
Good thought, @RustyDaemon I PM’d you
How did I miss that? Just checked email history, and initial convo about the quote was with him. I’ll send him email as well, thanks.
They are claiming now that equity check and payoff to LFS were mailed on May 9. Bunch of crap, how can a letter mailed in Manhattan still not be in my possession week later?
Did you request tracking numbers for both?
I just did. No reply yet.
Confirmed that your theory was correct.
Did they use run buggy to pick it up?
Damn can you post any (redacted) receipts?
Was it Manheim? Or another auction? I took a couple of stabs at it with LotVision and didn’t see it at the sites I checked.
