Real or Fake? Part 2

,

Without opening that article, the first thing I notice is Nissan still sucks.

I think the only difference is that Tesla enforces the issue universally. Whether you go to a Tesla store or shop online, the price is the price is the price.

I think Lexus was trying to do that with Lexus Plus’ no-haggle pricing, but failed with some dealers still going about business the “older” way, which can help people who understand car buying and hurt others.

Ohh there will be so many dealers in trouble if this was done to all dealers…

Absolutely not! Why not do that? Dealer makes a fair profit on a car, customer is happy that they dont have to negotiate and everyone walks away satisfied. The idea of negotiating is a sport for most. Its not that they cant afford it, it is simply a choice. Take away that choice, customer will have no problem paying for it. Do you negotiate at staples? at target? at H&M? at a diamond shop? No.

The problem is what the customer really wants is “universal good deals for all” and what they actually get with no haggle pricing is “universal good deals for the manufacturer”

Well… yes, actually. Most jewelry is negotiable.

Yeah, I only knew I got burned because I found this site. I don’t blame the salesman or dealer, I could have gotten it for way cheaper, but at the end of the day, I signed the contract and I still enjoyed the car. If people are happy paying MSRP, everyone wins.

Some people just don’t want to haggle.

Also, If you dont think 10-15% markup on an item is fair, hop off. I see those coming in. Most products have 40-70% markup for the dealers or stores.

Well…I’d slightly disagree there. If I work a deal, and the dealership isn’t jerking me off and is upfront and transparent, I’m always more than happy to provide them their 5s, 10s, or completely satisfieds on their survey, whatever the brand uses to get their top scores. All I ask for is to be upfront, respectable, and transparent.

That said, as mentioned above, I realize there’s a floor to what you can sell at, and am not one that cross shops dealers trying to save an extra $2.75 in payment.

Yes, and Office Depot on any product they have for sale that is demo. Also price matching (which is also negotiation being that you are asking for a lower price based on other market data) is encouraged at most stores.

They much rather make a sale with lower profit than lose a sale to competition. Also, it helps the consumer.

I have a strong feeling this fun thread is going to be locked up all because of one member :expressionless:
I hate it when this happens. Hopefuly this posts goes live before its locked

Price matching policies tend to result in higher average selling prices for all involved too

@mp11477, he is not talking about negotiating customers. There is a general rule. The customers that spend close to sticker or sticker usually walk away happy with their purchase as they value the product. This has noting to do with general negotiating folks. The grinders usually walk away the unhappiest even if the dealer is losing money on the deal.

What’s funny is, some people actually think that there’s no negotiation at car dealers. I think a lot of your MSRP buyers would fall into that category.

Phew  you have no idea how many times that has actually happened to me. Once i was on paragraph no.3 :joy:

There was a Range Rover Evoque I saw, dealer was loosing 9k, and I saw people still negotiate more off.

If you know it’s going to be a long one, sometimes you’ve got to just post one line and then come back and edit
