For sure not. But I did fly to Dallas to buy a Volvo last November because nobody in the Midwest or anywhere else would touch the deal. But I understand Volvo to be more regional with pricing and incentives.

Your post gave the impression that you were seeing brokers advertise a $400 SUV w/ 3 rows in TX. That’s why I asked. I don’t recall seeing something like that posted on the forum by a broker advertising that he/she could do that for you.

Your original post said 0 DAS and $400 a month. This deal has $1580 in equity built into it. Not saying that it’s bad but $1500 in equity shaves about $45 a month off your payment.

You seem to also not really understand how brokers work. They don’t just start calling up dealers and asking them for a deal. They have established relationships with dealers. Therefore, most brokers specialize in just one or a few brands. I don’t know of any brokers that deal in Mazda in TX

For a 3 row suv In even okay with paying something in the $500s/mo with $0 DAS. But I don’t think that’s even possible in Texas anymore.

If it was possible, who could broker this?
My preference is any 3 row SUV (literally no preference on car make) with IIHS TOP safety pick + rating

This -the upfront Texas sales tax hit makes it difficult to obtain good leases without the sales tax credits compared to most states. In Fall 2020 I was able to get tax credits on an Alfa Romeo lease (thru Ally) with a good MF & decent residual for a college kid car - Alfa needed to move some cars. Without the tax credits the deal was subpar.

I see the TV ads in Texas for the Mercedes or Lexus leases and beyond the money down fine print the whole “+ TTL” it seems like they think some people will miss that and show up at the dealer ready to lease not knowing they for a pricier vehicle at the advertised lease rate its probably $8- $10k cash down to get that rate.

Are you in DFW? Last weekend on AM570 KLIF during the Wheels show they were saying Honda had sales tax credits available across the board.

Houston - my prior shopping experience was that Audi & BMW had Texas tax credits they would parcel out but that others were stingy. Varies by months. Part of it also has to do with how many returns they are getting.

We have lender tax credits available for BEV’s @ BMW.

BMW hasn’t offered sales tax credits in forever on gas powered models. They’ve been giving them on EVs to help move them.

I think the last time I was able to get a sales tax credit from BMW was in '20 on an X5

We had them for a time when production was still somewhat limited to offset low discounts.

But yes, the priority now is on BEV’s and will remain so for the foreseeable future.

In Dec 2021 I had them on mine

Definitely an interesting time. Markups over list were the norm for walk-ins but trade values were through the roof so it was what it was.

Somehow I got 2500 under MSRP with 3000 over my trade. From a Sewell dealer… shocking but I took it and ran lol

But for the average walk-in the situation could have been exactly the inverse of that with $3,000 under ACV on the trade and $2,500 markup over list.

Even with a full lot spilling into overflow there’s still people that say yes to the first pencil. :face_with_spiral_eyes:

Very true, especially for Sewell dealers
