This is interesting, didnt know about this. Its good to know. Like i said its our first EV and didnt know how this all plays out. I just wanted to make sure its all dialed in. At first i was like wtf, we installed a 200amp panel dedicated for the future build garage lights and EV chargers, and im only getting this much juice lol.
@djrabbi i guess were on the same page, eventually im gonna change the charger, due to when i charge my taycan i have no control when i want it to start charging. Plus coned wont give me incentive for it. Its not approved only approved ones are
Some EVs have dual onboard chargers. Older Model S and Model X, Lucid, Ford Lightning ER and I believe Hummer. This allows them to take an 80amp connector and turn it into two 40amp connections. I think this is the maximum line rate you will ever see a connector require so 200 amps… well that’s just overkill.
The only connector I would consider on your list is Wallbox Pulsar, which is actually very nice. But given you have 200amp service, I would be looking at an 80amp connector like the Ford Charge Station Pro or Lucid Home Station, otherwise what’s the point of having all that power available.
just switched to Tesla insurance for new EQS which was noticably less than both Mercury and Wawanesa in CA. Install Tesla app and get a real time quote when adjusting deductibles, etc.
Watch out if you need to make a claim. Feedback on the Tesla forums is that Tesla Insurance has poor customer service and is non-responsive. In many cases, claimants only receive a response after filing complaints with the state’s insurance commissioner.
Staffing and getting a live person to respond seems to be the prevailing issue.
Yeah I read this but I had mercury before which is known to be similar or worse. Have attorney subscription from my company, so less worried about these. Other companies provide ridiculous quotes of 400+ month, where Wawanesa, mercury are in mid 200s and tesla is the cheapest option. Basically, tesla has the same premium for $500 deductible that Mercury has for $2000.
