Was offered the same and decided to order a 2023. I plan on purchasing the car at the end of lease as a commuter so I figured the more miles I put on this one, the better off I’ll be in the end, plus possibly getting more money back as well. See if it all works out, hoping to take delivery by the end of the year.
I have received the following message from RC on the 2023 Bolt EUV order “status of your ordered vehicle - it is in 3000 - Accepted by Production Control status, with a Target Production Week of 8/08/22, with no estimated delivery date”
That’s not terrible delivery date should populate once there almost done building it
The $3k check showed up. This confirms that in the state of Virginia you will get the difference in MSRP if it’s on your substitution of collateral paperwork.
Exactly my thought process too. Maximize equity at the end of the lease by getting the newest car possible (2023 vs 2022) with the least miles on it possible at lease end. It’s just too bad California doesn’t credit the difference in MSRP
Also in VA same thing happened to me.
In May, Got my 2022 EUV Premier as SOC, (Handed them 2022 Bolt Premier)
I was rear ended by a Truck, around $10K in damages.
Going through my insurance and then asking my insurance to recoup the money.
I had plans to buy this EUV at the end of lease (September 2023 @25K)… but not sure now.
Sorry to hear about that. Keep us posted. I can’t imagine they would give you any of that since you don’t own the vehicle. But I’d be curious to know of a different outcome that involves you receiving compensation.
The way I understood is, I’ll be going through my insurance, get the car fixed. My insurance will follow up and recoup the money from party at fault insurance. Police report clearly says the guy behind me was at fault (3 car accident. Mine in the middle)
All done! Really was pretty easy process other than waiting for it to finally arrive. SOC, so $20k residual on the 2022 in January plus $2100 back from GM for the difference in MSRP, nice upgrade. Drove the piss out of the 2020 this summer with gas so high, no reason to worry about miles!
How’s the new one compare to the old?
Major upgrade interior/features/looks wise. Normal GM interior instead of whatever the first gen was. Highlights are nicer seats, power seat, Bose sound, wireless CarPlay/charging, 360 camera view for parking and adaptive cruise. Drives the same as the 2020. Only negative is the arm rest.
Great choice on the swap for the EV! I swapped for an EUV back in April and really miss the zippy acceleration & nimble handling of the EV. The EUV is just not as fun to drive. If I could go back in time, I think I would go with the EV.
Hey, your 2020 dealership referral here ![]()
Did you order the 2023 swap with the same dealer? Are there any additional fees or you essentially will switch cars in the same Leasing Agreement and will drive a new 2023 model until the end of the original lease term?
I did find a 2022 EUV Premier, at least it’s available now. If its MSRP is lower than my original Premier’s $43K, what about the residual value and the MSRP difference checks in NJ?
Thank you!
I actually ordered this one from Burlington Chevrolet, which was the dealership that sold me my Bolt LT. Ciocca would not assist on a swap. They wanted me to return the Bolt and get a new one through them instead of the GM swap program. No thanks! I have not received my offer yet but as far as I know all the terms and conditions are supposed to stay the same with the substitution of collateral. We’ll see once I get my offer back.
Thank you! I won’t bother with Ciocca then. Do you think there’s a drawback going with the 2022 models due to the lower residuals a year from now? Did they have any ETA on your 2023 order? Btw, ChargeUp is back on since yesterday, did you see? I am planning to at least get a charging station reimbursement incentive from it.
2022 models have a higher MSRP. Assuming you’re doing a substitution of collateral they’ll either swap MSRP to MSRP or depending on the rules in your state, give you a partial credit for the difference.
The ‘22s are $6300 more than the ‘23s. Remember they’re taking the window sticker price, and not factoring in rebates.
You’re better off going with a ‘23, but the program could end or they could have a new battery for your car
To be honest I’m not too worried about residuals either way because I know that the Equinox and Blazer EVs will probably end up torpedoing all Bolt RVs regardless of the model year. It is what it is. I only went forward with a 2023 order because finding a dealer who would give up a 2022 in transit or on the ground proved to be impossible at the time. My order is “accepted and moving towards production” according to the chat bot. Right now I’m probably gonna wait on the charger since the 2023 EUV comes with a dual voltage charger and the installation of the outlet is included too (allegedly, via Qmerit). That’s really all that I need considering that virtually 100% of my charging is done for free at work.
Thank you. I already have a 240V-outlet and use my 2020’s “dual voltage” EVSE (even if it’s not obviously marked as such).
I also reserved a Blazer EV, even if just to see in what order process this reservation results, since it didn’t even include basics like colors and only let me reserve a trim (RS).
Ahhh, that’s exactly right, thank you! I didn’t even think about the residuals being different. I just hope that ordering it won’t make it arrive few days before the current lease’s end that for me is Oct '23 ![]()
