GM recalling Bolts for potential battery issue

Are you doing a collateral swap or are they buying your current vehicle back and you’re purchasing/leasing another one? If you’re doing a swap, then the residual and other details should remain from the original lease contract.

Your SOC offer will only include difference in MSRP between vehicles.

Sorry, but could someone tell me what SOC stands for, please? :upside_down_face:

Swap / Substitution of Collateral

many thanks!

I just called and they are not approving SOC for me. They are saying they can only offer $46/day for a rental car.

What was their reason?

What state are you in? I called today too, that’s all they said was available until they found I was in California, then I asked about MSRP swap and it seems to be going ahead.

Last week my friend received a letter from Chevy by FedEx stating that to keep him happy they will reimburse $5800. He had leased a new bolt EUV just prior to the $6300 incentive using the proceeds from the repurchase of his 2020 bolt (he had not done the SOC correctly and signed the offer of repurchase). He also saw on another forum that someone who did a SOC also received a similar letter for reimbursement. Hopefully those of us who did SOC will receive the reimbursement soon.

I received the exact same letter via fedex yesterday 8/2/22.
Original lease 2020 bolt LT was approx 1pay $5600 for 3yrs 30k mi. Did a SOC (vin swap?) 3months ago $0 out of pocket for a brand 2022 bolt EUV LT2 (an upgrade in my opinion) with purchase option @ my original lease $18K. Now it looks like we will receive a check for an additional $5800.

Recap 2022 bolt EUV approx current value $34,000.00
Buyout cost -$18,000.00
initial lease cost -$5,600.00
net equity $10,400.00
Chevy bolt Reimbursement + $5,800.00
CA EV rebate + $2500.00
I was paid $18,700.00 to drive a bolt for 3 years
Thank you Leasehackr community for making this deal possible…Bolt the gift that keeps on giving!

Can anybody speak to the current approximate lead time from order to arrival at dealership for a 2023 bolt? Trying to work timing on replacing my leaf lease when that ends.

I placed an order at the end of June. It was just accepted by GM and dealer said production should be in August and it should be on the lot by September. I don’t know if that’s typical because I assume every dealer gets a certain allocation…

Does a factory order count against a dealers “allocation”? It did not with my 22 wrangler 4xe, that why they were so open to orders.

From what I was told it does, GM and Ford don’t separate dealer and customer orders like FCA/Stellantis does.
Dealer places an order and it only gets picked up when they get allocation.

I’ve read at various websites that there is a disclaimer when you sign up for the reimbursement that you waive your right to sue regarding battery fires.

Wow congrats!! I also did a SOC swap from a onepay lease 2020 Bolt LT to a 2022 EUV Premier back in April. I still haven’t received the reimbursement letter from FEDEX yet but this gives me hope that it may be coming! I’m in CA as well :slightly_smiling_face: Thank you for sharing!

You forgot the charge card or charger installation when you got the SOC

Did you buy out the car in April? Per GMs terms, leases were not elligible for the rebate.

Well done either way!

Isn’t there a possible class action lawsuit against the Bolt currently going on?

Yes in the fine print you must waive your rights.
I have not optioned the purchase yet but I think I can pull the trigger anytime prior to my
lease expiring.
I forgot about the $500 EV charge credit
grand total $19,200.00
