Getting No Response From Dealers - Is My Offer Too Aggressive?

,

Hey all, I was hoping to get some feedback on an offer I’ve been putting together for a 2024 Cadillac Lyriq loaner (seeing as there have been some really good deals recently on here).

I found a 2024 Cadillac Lyriq Luxury 3 model with ~3000 miles
MSRP $74485

I looked on the Signed! section to get an idea of how much off MSRP people have been getting off of 2024 Lyriqs from about July onwards, and here’s what I found:

11% off with 1800 miles
9% off with 4902 miles
11% off with 3500 miles
15% off with 3200 miles
29% off with 5692 miles
25% off with 1000 miles
16% off with 360 miles
13% off with 1300 miles
12% off with 243 miles
16% off with 5500 miles
10% off with 27 miles
10% off with 2700 miles

Of course those were varying trims and locations, but I thought that targeting a dealer discount of about 14% seemed like a fairly reasonable goal (sales price would be about $64000), and based off my calculations I got that a one pay deal would be about $5814 (oops forgot dealer fees and registration, looks like it’s actually around $6700). Here is a link to my calculator using all the incentives I think I qualify for: Leasehackr Calculator - Hack your next lease | Leasehackr

After I did these calculations, I messaged the dealer with the following:

“Hello! Thank you so much for the text back. Here’s my offer if you might be interested:

$6000 one pay lease for 24/12k lease on the 2024 Cadillac Lyriq with 3000 miles (stock number xyz), contingent on tier 1 approval and the following incentives:
$2500 Cadillac loaner incentive
$3000 Cadillac conquest offer (we own a 2023 Volvo at home)
$1250 Costco executive member
$2000 GM dealer cash program
$500 GM rewards MasterCard signup
$500 educator incentive (I have an authorization code ready)
For a total of $9750 in incentives
Tax rate is 9.25% with zip code xxxxx

If you are willing to accept, I can come take delivery within 2 hours. Thanks so much for your consideration”

I sent it a couple days ago and it’s been crickets ever since. I’m wondering if I made a mistake with the offer, either in how I phrased my text, or maybe the offer is too aggressive? Maybe I just didn’t get in touch with the right person? I couldn’t find out how to reach the sales manager, I had just called and got connected with the “Online Product Manager” who was who I texted. He even mentioned briefly on the call “man we really need to get rid of this car” so I thought they’d be willing to at least entertain the offer. Hoping to see what you guys think and thanks so much in advance!

While I don’t follow the market close enough to weigh in accurately if it too aggressive or not, one thing I did notice was $0 for dealer fee and $0 in government fees. That seems hard to believe. Are you sure on that part?

Oh thank you for noticing that! For some reason I thought it would automatically calculate when I put in my zip code… do you have any tips for figuring out what the dealer fee and government fees would come out to? I’m trying to look at some other people’s contracts in Signed! to see if I can estimate but not sure if there’s an easier way

CA DMV has a calculator on their website

Call the dealership. Ask to speak with someone in sales. Tell them what you’re interested in, ask their fees, and then ask for their email.

I’ve been doing what you’re doing. I have had real difficulty getting anything below a 24 month 10k year total payment of $10,000.

Thank you so much! Here is the updated calculator. Looks like Cadillac has a $85 cap on dealer fees in CA but I saw someone’s contract had them also get charged $35 for some electronic processing fee as well so I put dealer fees at $120 and government fees at $761 for license and registration.

Yeah I called their sales number and it put me through directly to their online product manager guy. Maybe I should call back to specifically ask for one of their general sales managers.

And yeah maybe we are chasing too much of a unicorn deal? Seeing those $4k one pay leases on the Lyriqs was really enticing, and then I saw a few people ending up being able to snag it for $7k as well. So honestly I was hoping to start with a $6k offer but I’m willing to go up to $8-9k if needed, but they haven’t even responded to even start a negotiation!

Incorrect. They cap the dealer fee charged to employee sales, not general retail. The only way to know for certain is to ask. Some states set a maximum, other states it’s free game.

Ah got it! Thank you so much for the clarification. I’ll give them another call to confirm how much they charge for dealer fees

Also, the Luxury 3 trim has the worst residual of all the trims, which makes your deal even more difficult.

I thought that was the case but wasn’t sure enough to mention it. OP would you be willing to drop a trim level or two? What’s the inventory looking like across all three levels?

Yeah I looked quickly and it looks like 74% RV on Luxury 1, 75% RV on Luxury 2, 70% RV on Luxury 3 (for 24/12k) :grimacing:

I actually would totally be down to downgrade trims. There just aren’t really many loaners left at this point. This is the only one available that is a reasonable distance from me, unless I want to try to do some deals that involve shipping it

Is there still lease support for a 2024 when the 2026 model is already on dealer lots?

Have you tried the Cadillac inventory search and go from there? I was using 90001 zip code for 2024 models, yes this isn’t a Lux 3 but it also doesn’t have the $500 GM card sign up..

Saw you want 24/10; sorry but still… 2024 lease support is there clearly.

I don’t follow the electric appliance market and I don’t care to look into it, so I have no advice there. There has also been enough discussion on here to be able to piece some sort of conclusion together.

I will say that your tone and wording isn’t aggressive enough IMO lol. I would never speak like that as a buyer, and frankly I’d probably be annoyed if a seller were to speak to me like that. I cannot stand an overly fake nice, as I dislike fake people (and the two are often related). That is presenting yourself as a spring lamb- you want to be the wolf. This is my offer and we can make a deal. I’m not going to beg anyone to take a penny from me.

Correct and also keep it short..

”Hi, can you do $$X one-pay for 24/12 months on VIN/Stock Number. Tier 1 credit, Tag transfer or New Tags (you pick), No Trades, ZIP for taxes. List of incentives you qualify for. If I have a buyers order/in writing, I can be there today to close the deal.”

That way if they say no, you move on. Also being aggressive and being stupid are two things; it’s okay to be aggressive on a unit that has been sitting there….

It’s a lukewarm deal for them at best (like most LH deals) so they are acting lukewarmly.

Emaily daily and try different addresses or texts. You are the solicitor in this situation.

Also, start talking with multiple dealers now. Ideally everyone with a loaner within 200 miles.

It just says “contact dealer” for me, when using your link.
