Funniest/most ridiculous dealer replies you've ever gotten

My local audi dealer wasn’t even aware of the southern region incentive… I had to break it all out for them. Doesn’t surprise me they wouldn’t be aware of a lesser recognized incentive like penfed.

For real. Things are rough for lady buyers, too, in the Deep South.

Hell, things are rough all over, Ponyboy!!

This is why car sales people still do a 4-square (even if it isn’t pencil on paper): what is the customer’s sticking point?

Resistance removed, happy customer! :exploding_head::money_with_wings::money_with_wings::money_with_wings:

I have not seen a 4 square in years!

Saw it last year! From the ripoff dealer

Why would a dealer pull out a 4 square for a deal that’s already been agreed to in writing and you’re only there to take delivery of?

This is the rip off Toyota dealer, not the deals I made ahead. This was the dealer before the 4hr deal if you know my threads.

It was a rhetorical question

Apparently the dealer sales manager is a frequent LH, forgive the ambiguity…

Because incentives, I was leaning towards one brand “A” more, as I could get pricing where I was looking to be at, compared to brand “B”. Both performance type cars. After some discussion, last reply once I said I was going to “A”, the dealer for “B” said, “Hope you don’t meet a “B Car” at a stop light…”

Idk about the timeline but I got my MIL a loaner for $500 $2500 DAS. This is laughable, I would not be able to keep a straight face.

Went into a local Jeep dealer to check out the Wrangler 4XE. These were my favorites:

“Jeep would go out of business at that price.”

“If you could get that price I’ll take 10.”

Your reply: “If I can do that deal, will you sign today? Give me a credit card to show my manager you are serious and I’ll see what I can do.”

Got a new one. Made a straightforward offer on a demo with a lot of miles. Gave them the price I am ready to sign at before incentives and at base MF. Told them I understand if they can’t do it and I am not flexible on the price since I don’t need a car right now. Salesperson said he completely understands and will try to work with his manager to get me the deal if at all possible.

Manager calls me an hour later and says he can do it. He sends me rough numbers on a random piece of paper. I said great, let’s do it. When the final paperwork came through, it turned out that they included incentives in the discount they offered. :expressionless:

I said sorry I am not interested in this deal. Salesperson emails me a few hours later:

Sir, my manager offered you the exact price you asked for. I don’t understand why you are backing out of this deal when we had an agreement.

I don’t understand how they thought I would just overlook the incentives. I brought it up multiple times and I was super straightforward in setting up the expectation. I guess enough people fall for their shenanigans to make it worth their while to play games like this. But after being in business for a while, I feel like you should be able to read people and stop wasting everyone’s time.

Because you assumed that they listened to you at all. If you are dictating a deal that you will agree to, why would you tell them a price before the incentives? Why not just give them the whole thing?

Did you itemize the incentives in your deal and ensure absolutely no ambiguity in writing? If so, this should be as simple as pointing to the email and saying “clearly you can see right here where it’s itemized”. If not, you made an assumption that they were on the same page as you. If there’s any ambiguity to be had, it’ll always tip in their favor.

If you’re going to make an offer, there’s really only two ways to do it… either give them a monthly/das, in which case there’s no room for confusion, or break down everything in detail. If you try to piece things together one item at a time, you’re just setting yourself up for this.

 Yes I should have learned that from this thread by now.

I gave them selling price I am targeting and the incentives I qualify for. Taking care to mention that I want the incentives applied on top of the discount they are offering. I was clear, trust me. The salesperson and the manager both definitely understood what I was asking for.

My frustration comes from the fact that they tried to play around with the numbers instead of just saying “Sorry, we can’t do that discount. Good luck”. I would have respected them so much more if they just said that.

Yep. Gave them every single number they need to make a quote. I even got an approximation of the DMV fees and told them that it’s the only component that can change. The rough quote from the manager did have ambiguity in the discount because he combined the incentives and discount and also didn’t include the monthly payment.

I gave them a complete breakdown of the numbers and the approximate monthly. I guess the lesson to be learned here is that a deal is not done until the final paperwork is signed and the car is picked up.
