In NJ, using an AFG balloon loan, one could now pick up a base XLT SR for $579/mo for 36mo with only fees and registration DAS. You can use the vehicle return option to avoid the balloon payment.
Sold my lightning recently but incredibly happy about this. The lightning was by far my favorite truck so ill likely consider another one with this price reduction.
It would be nice to have a rear chargeport on it for when you aren’t towing.
I’ve seen these things at EA stations and it’s a pain to get them lined up sometimes, I can see this causing some fights when they actually adopt NACS and can use superchargers which most often are set up for rear (specifically driver rear) charge ports.
Maybe they have to get serious to compete with the Cybertruck now that one has rolled off the assembly line.
Lariat Extended Range under $80k. $7500 tax credit. Plus using Tesla chargers.
Got me thinkin
You forgot no tax to get us TAX paying citizens jelly
Ford is so generous! Basically a non-profit at this point.
Gonna have to throw some serious money at Lightnings in dealer stock
I’ll get one to tow my Tesla and imaginary Fisker.
I think Mach-E already had it’s round of price cuts.
If they’re sitting they probably will…
I like how they spin it: " The automaker says improved plant capacity and lower costs are helping it sell the electric truck for less."
Bill Ford is clearly an effective altruist.
Switch to lower cost LFP batteries is the main driver behind this. Mach-E gets the switch over first.
Hopefully the new packs help the Lightning’s less than ideal charge curve.
Elon response to Lightning $10k price drop…
“The Ford Lightning is a good vehicle, just somewhat expensive…”
aka…Cybertruck going to be under $50k.
This price cut is coming for most EVs. Check out the year over year turn rates:
400V + large battery pack + poor efficiency = not good road trip EV.
I tried DC charging on my Rivian this past weekend and was unimpressed. A large 135 kWh battery charging at 170 kW is like a crossover EV charging at 90 kW because of the poor efficiency of the R1S (sub 2.0 mi/kWh). In 10 minutes, I can add 28.3 kWh which is about 56.6 highway miles. The same 10 minutes of charging on an Ioniq 5 I can add 90+ highway miles (30-ish kWh). Heck I’ve been able to add 120+ miles (around 40 kWh) in 12 minute charging sessions.
Many DC chargers can’t even push 170 kW so instead of adding 56.6 miles in 10 minutes… I might be adding 25-30 miles.
Technically the starting price of the Lighting (Pro) is also $50K.
The upper trims have fancy things like 360 camera, heated + ventilated seats, V2L, tow packages, etc. that the Cybertruck will never have.
