Last I saw, the spin was âheâs negotiating with countries that are cooperating.â
Think this just kicks can down road , heâs not admitting the tariffs are bad policy. Itâs going to embolden him and prolong this whole endeavor when what we need is a complete 180, a my bad that was stupid.
Donât really see it as bullish tbh
That is a great success story, but a very unlikely outcome for most who go into the trades. How are the 300 employees that work for him doing?
Ten days ago, 10% tariffs on everybody and 125% tariffs on China, plus special pharma and lumber tariffs Coming Soon, would correctly have been seen as bonkers.
Providing for their families because his uncle created jobs. 300 people you dont have to fight with on linkedin to find a new desk to sit at.
Itâs going to be funny when we see the trade deals negotiated and you guys try to spin that as bad too. This was all a negotiation and attack on China. Better trade deals are positive for us manufacturing. Globalization was never going away but we will be getting a better deal now. And real jobs will be created not govt ones.
How are government jobs not ârealâ jobs? You mean like being POTUS?
What about law enforcement, VA doctors and nurses and everyone else in the government?
Depends. How much welding is involved in each of these jobs?
Or, youâre going to see him completely forget about it, make whatâs left of tariffs (autos, etc) go away, brush it under the rug, and call it a âwinâ for us manufacturing. End of the day, the damage to the credibility of the US has been done. Whoâs going to buy american exports? Whoâs going to travel here?
The most important thing capital values is stability and certainty. Capital flows to where both of these are present. This isnât it.
PS - your maga bro above thinks your job isnât ârealâ, either. FYI.
Not to mention the damage done to our relationships with our traditional allies. They have started to pull away from economic and military relationships with us and those relationships wonât easily be restored to their former state. Those countries will now always have a fear of these tactics being used again in the future.
Thoughts any issues with any insider trading on this info announcement that might have got some connected people billions in gains? Just the cost of playing hardball?
A post was merged into an existing topic: Off-Topic Landfill 6
You know exactly what jobs I was referring to⌠Most of the 25% increase in federal workers added.
Insider trading can happen at anytime with any company. Sec should do their job. If you think all this was just so his inner circle could get richer, well thereâs easier ways to do thatâŚremember theyâre the ones that own 93% of the market and are still down close to 15% or more.
Complete anecdotal aberration with your buddy, and the VA stuff is just pure fluff.
Talk to any vet that uses VA services and ask them what position is not âmission-criticalâ for the VA. The Kool-Aid runs deep.
Disagree. There is bloat in all organizations, but 25%? Thatâs laughable and now so many programs and positions have been axed that we are all at risk in so many more ways due to indiscriminate âcutsâ that had zero planning.
I think what makes me laugh the most is everyone knows Trump takes a business approach to politics. You can agree or disagree with the approach, but thatâs how he operates. When I see people crying foul for the near reversal, it makes me shake my head. Are you truly surprised? This is not the first time and wonât be the last.
This is so incredibly out of touch and obviously coming from someone who has never worked a blue collar job. I was in the building industry for many years and Iâve met hundreds upon hundreds of trades workers.
Every single one who is over the age of 40 have serious health issues and canât do most of the physical labor anymore, they hire 20 year old assistants for it. Even less physical jobs such as electricians still end up with a fucked up body.
This isnât Americans being soft, even illegal Mexican immigrants charge way more for physical labor such as picking produce and roofing than a less physically demanding job like cleaning.
I guarantee you half the parts in the stuff you own are made exclusively in China, with maybe some low volume production in the EU or Japan.
In the residential construction industry basically all the interior finishes are made in China. The cabinets, the stone for the countertops, parts for the appliances, chemicals in the paint, etc. If we had to source everything in the US, it wouldâve been simply impossible due to a lack of suppliers and a lack of workers willing to do the work. The stuff we manufacture in the US are almost exclusively custom high end products. The average American canât afford $80k for American made cabinets.
There are no Americans lining up to work in a factory making cheap cabinets for $15/hr. You can get that much working as a Walmart greeter sitting on a stool all day. Who TF would want to work an assembly line?
No doubt in my mind that some members of the administration bought calls here, Chances they are prosecuted? Probably zero.
Since your always right and whatever evidence I provide you will brush aside as âanecdotal aberrationâ. All I can say is I have two family members and a best friend buried in Arlington. My family and my inlaws have deep military ties and I personally have driven my 93 yr old grandfather to many VA appointments. Even the Docs have said the VA needs a massive overhaul this was absent of any political talks. Did that need to come in the form of rifâs? Who knows but the government is broke and we cant keep printing or diverting funds from other sourcesâŚin any business the first thing chopped is people.
Yikes, So I have been a laborer for most of my life. Started at 9 cleaning horse stalls and bailing hay at the farms near my house. Father owned a construction remodeling business have been working with him since I was 14. I grab jobs on the weekend to help out my buddies roofing or my brothers remodeling business when they need help. Does it break down your body? Sure does im from a farming/blue collar town and everyone has a war story. You know who I dont hear on the internet whining about no one wants to do those jobs? The people who do those jobsâŚand those jobs outside of the trades are vastly disappearing overseas. We have whole towns decimated by the plant they worked at leaving for âcheapâ labor overseas.
I find it funny when people in this country are worried about the business that screwed them sending the manufacturing overseas. When did libs get so passionate about big business?
