There was nothing to āanswerā as it was just a statement yelled into the void of a reality that does not exist.
So it looks like Iām right, sadly. Retaliatory Tariffs are in full effect. Of the top 10 countries by GDP, 6 are going full send, 1 is the USA, and the other 3 are negotiating.
I just love how the cohort that was complaining about the cost of living (very rightfully so) is now full on embracing an incoming price hike across the board for the purposes of some vague promises of a golden future and raw jingoism.
So, thatās what itās all about? Who wouldāve thought lol
This is one of the big issues with physical labor. Often Your body just canāt handle it past age 50. Even things like plumbing or HVAC require contorting the spine in ways that may become difficult or impossible later in life. Especially with the likey increase in the retirement age, just seems like a bad move to get into a career that likely will leave you unable to work well before you are at retirement age.
FWIW I do not agree that everything was perfect before and we absolutely did need some changes, notably reducing real estate subsidization via getting MBS off balance sheet and actually building houses again. Prior economic data was very manipulated so when folks like Aronchi claim everything was perfect and great during end of Biden tenure, no I do not agree with that.
However that of course does not mean this was the right way to go about things and is ofc a massive downgrade.
So then who does these jobs? Not all of us desk jockies, who does that leave behind? What other options do they have? Manufacturing?
China currently has the largest Navel fleet, Does that scare you? Who builds ships? Who goes to war? not the guy worried about contorting his back. Were soft and this is a massive demonstration. You know the average American has 2-5k in 401k.Think they care about about the market being down. All the arguments against the tariffs are foreign propagandaā¦
Ironically, all of the ones for are from Newsmax, which one can argue isā¦propaganda. And theyāre tenuous, at best.
History doesnāt repeat, but it does rhyme. The last time we did this, the world was not nearly as integrated as it is now, and we and the entire world ate it. Republicans lost congress for almost 5 decades. They will get their comeuppance next year.
So, if Iām understanding your position correctly, we should bring back more factory jobs here to force people to do them so that we are better equipped to build ships domestically in case of a future naval war where all our supply chains from the rest of the world are cut off?
90 day Global pause except China !!!
@li8625 I dont care what he did lol. The entire country needed it, our people needed it, F even our forum members needed it
before another thread got locked !
I hate Slow mode lol But i understand at certain times its needed
He blinked. But wait a second, I donāt think it doesnāt include EU or Canada though. Letās hope he stops all the tariffs!
They dump and pumped the entire market - lol.
Thatās why you hone your skill set and become a boss after 20 years. Or just start your own company once you have the experience. Many blue collar workers have become immensely wealthy this way. My uncle is dislexic, could barely read and didnāt finish highschool. He wasnāt good at the traditional education system in America. But after 15 years as a carpenter, he and his partners had the idea to tear down single family homes at the jersey shore, build a duplex and keep one unit for themselves while the owner got the other. Heās doing just fine at 65 and prob hasnāt really swung a hammer in 25 yearsā¦
We need these jobs and should be pushing kids into the trades
I thought we need the tariffs in place to build factories and get better bargain. So why blink then? LOL
Think of all the companies that paid the tariffs in the last 15 hours before the āpauseā button was pushedā¦..
Bond market was crashing before the tariffs went into effect at midnight. How in the world does any of this make sense?
Post-Covid positive car equity thinking about it after the headlinesā¦

Because the bigwig party donors started getting pissed at how much money they were losing. And donor money > bringing back manufacturing jobs.
But Iām sure Trump stans will spin this as⦠āthe art of the dealā
Guy I went to high school with got a job as a union welder right out of school. Had to commute into the city, but learned the trade.
After about 15 years he opened his own shop and does towers and other marine fabrication. Has a few guys under him and does pretty well. He mostly quotes the jobs and supervises the crew now.
One thing for sure, AI canāt weld like he can so there is that.
You donāt have to do hands on your whole career. Get good training, do good work to build your reputation and then start your own company. My brother went to VoTech in high school for welding. Started his own metal fabrication company in his mid-20ās. He now has over 300 employees and is worth 18-20 million dollars. Spends most of his time traveling and hunting at age 64.
