Unless OP has a prior client relationship with this selling dealer, I think OP may be getting trolled by random dealer itself. With more than 6 months left in the year and only less than 100 left in the country, doesn’t make sense for any dealer to be going 10% or higher off on them. Its not like its a 2022 and May is the last month for support. For everyone stating that its an outgoing model, boat, box,dungeon etc…keep in mind that a lot (not all) folks that pick these cars up are either not too aware of changing generations / refreshes or simply dont care.

I think that’s mostly true for 5 series buyers but M5? Not sure about that. I would think that most of those who are willing to splurge on an M are likely the ones who don’t care about saving a few bucks, preferring the latest and greatest.

The point I’m making is that the there is no reason for you to be doing this if even at your target deal, you aren’t confident you’d take the car, forgetting about whether or not that target is even realistic. It’s just a waste of everyones time.
I also didn’t have that competitive advantage when I got my 440i at 17% or a Macan for 18% back in 2019, I just made solid, binary, yes or no offers. In the case of the 440i, they said no at first, but left it open, a month later it was still on the lot, they did the deal.
What’s a “binary” offer?
Binding, I’m assuming. You throw out an offer, if they accept it’s binding & you have to follow through or risk being sued for damages or specific performance, if applicable

My style was basically to lay out my whole offer, the discount, everything, and just simply state that I am ready with credit app and deposit immediately, will schedule pickup for the first day that works mutually.
With everything laid out, it’s usually easy for a dealer to make a “binary” or yes or no decision on whether or not they want to make that deal on that unit.
And production number is… Is you custom built the car?
Ya I feel like this is a pretty easy way to piss off a dealer if you say “ I want xyz” they then say ok and then you don’t do the deal. As you said above the whole point of these negotiations is you’re committing to them to buy it at your price

When you order a car with BMW, you get a production number, that is essentially the record/proof of your allocation, before it becomes an actual car and gets a VIN number.
