OP, def take a friend with you so he can film you pulling out of the dealership…post it up here :joy:

Hope you got the quad exhaust but that MSRP tells me it doesn’t have it…(you’ll def want that with the V8)

Congrats either way.

Good luck with your search. You’ll need it with your broker courting skills

If anyone in the NY/NJ/PA area is interested I spoke to Jim Marks over at Elkins Chevrolet and was at 341 with zero due at signing or $302 a month with $1,397 due at signing on a black Manual transmission, $37,265 msrp. That was including the enhanced conquest and a supplier code. I pressed him a bit and referenced another deal I had in hand that was better. He wanted to have his manager call me to discuss that. I’m abandoning it because A) I didn’t realize that it was a manual transmission and B) If it’s the sales manager I think it is he doesn’t seem to like me in particular. I’ve had some really weird interactions with him via email, even though other LH members got some really solid deals on Bolts over there. I was just able to beat them. When I asked about adding a supplier code to a Bolt deal he just said that he could charge me more if I wanted to use it :joy:. Yet somehow every LH member that went to Elkins got a much better sales price than what he quoted me. :man_shrugging:t2:

You mean you don’t want to double up on the hilarity of OP with trying to get a manual off the lot in the snow first time ever?

As much as I would love to learn to drive stick, I’m not sure that this particular car would be the way I’d like to do it. Trial by fire might be fun for some I suppose. Also, it’s a long shot that I could even take the car even if I found a unicorn draped in the Golden fleece. Trying to sell Mrs. Eliminator on the idea would be even more impossible if it was a unicorn that she couldn’t or had no interest in learning how to drive. She’s got a strange affinity for the Dodge Charger. If it were automatic there is a tiny sliver of hope that I could convince her that it is KINDA like the Charger, only even BETTER because of how cheap and fast it is!

To be honest I am in a conversation with a GM who has responded with thumbs up a few times…which he actually means FU. And I love these interactions because he’s also sending me pics of the car in the showroom…so I know we’re playing ball.

That’s like 4% discount, right? Not sure which state’s taxes and dmv you are working with.

No, wait … I did 36 mos. It is more like 2% when working with 39 mos. Yikes.

So you’re leasing a high-powered V8 with RWD in manual during after a snow storm in the middle of snowy season and you have no experience driving a manual, RWD car with this kind of power… in snow? I hope it’s all season tires…

I had an ecoboost Mustang that I drove in snow (in manual) and I lost the tail more than my fair share of times. I had also been driving manual at that point for about 8 years.

My recommendation is to grab a friend who drives stick and give you a one hour lesson on driving it. I’ve done this several times for many people and it’s easy. Were I still in NY, I’d offer, but its’ a little hard to do so from Germany.

Best of luck, OP. You’re going to need it.

I got ghosted by a second dealer 2.5 hours from me after initial contact. It appears this is a true unicorn in TX.

I didn’t really bother breaking it down since I knew that it could be much better. I just know that they have been willing to deal for some of us here in the recent past, just not me. By all accounts that particular sales guy seems like a good egg.

That is how I actually learned how to drive stick. I had never driven one growing up and working at a dealer, you have to move them sometimes. I learned how to go into first and reverse. I worked a deal and had to pick up an old Golf GTI about 10 miles away. Get there and it was a manual. I avoided the highway and was lucky to get almost every single red light. I stalled once because I stopped at a red light on a hill, but other than a few rough shifts, it went better than I expected for my first time on a public road.

Also @GOAT , please get a set of winter tires if you plan on daily driving. All seasons won’t do crap on a RWD 400+ HP car.

When I got my 2017 M3, I had no idea how to drive manual. My dad drove the car home and then my good friend with a 6MT M3 taught me the basics, I felt comfortable driving on my own a day or two later, within a week I was fine, and then I would say it took me a few more weeks to get down more advanced stuff like hill starting quickly enough to not use the brake. It really isn’t hard to learn to drive on most modern cars.

How do you hill start without the brake? Are you holding the friction zone on the clutch the entire time to counter-balance inertia? If so, that’s a lot of wear on the friction plate.

Manual anecdote… I once went to Ourisman Honda in Laurel, MD, to test drive Civic Sport hatch in manual. The car was E on fuel and the salesperson told me they would fill it up before our test drive. They come back to me 25 minutes later to tell me that not a single porter on their staff knows how to drive stick so they grabbed the business credit card and I drove the Civic to the gas station to top it off… no joke.

I wasn’t pleased with the Civic’s overall space (I’m 6’5") and the low power so I decided to not go with it. The salesperson tried upselling me on their Competition White Type R they had on the lot to get me into that “power” band I want… they also had an 8k mark up on the Type R. Never saw a more disconnected from reality pitch… It was an almost 22k difference in selling price. Hard pass.

I just mean learning to do it fast enough that it doesn’t matter. I can get foot off the brake, on the clutch, and start to accelerate before I roll back more than an inch or two.

These cars also have hill start assist so it makes it pretty fool proof. I found that out the other day trying to get it up my snow covered driveway lol
