Used it today at Lexus Escondido (San Diego). No question, it’s legit!
@tdkcfo1 how much did you get the lease for … did you get better discount that the quote posted here which was $4000 discount
Got a lease on an ES 350 in El Monte. MSRP was 40k, sale price was 35k, got an additional 2500 lease conquest and the payments were at 420 with 1k drive off out of pocket. Had a trade in on a tundra they were only giving me 22,500 and would not budge. Went to carmax just to see and they offered 26,000 was in and out in about an hour exactly with a check for 1k after they paid the remainder of the loan. Used that for the ES drive off MF was 0.00065 on tier 2 credit. Did not put any MSD down and wanted 15k a year in miles. Lease payment is 420 and then after the numbers looked good I mentioned the certificate for 1k. Final payment was 384. If I wanted 12k a year, got tier 1 plus credit MF which brought it down to 0.0002 and had the graduate discount I could have gotten this lease for around 310 to 320 a month. Car is awesome for the value especially.
Greetings, I’m trading in my Camaro SS as well. Did you have to bargain with CarMax?
CarMax doesn’t bargain. They will give you a purchase quote- take it or leave it- good for 7 days. AutoNation will do the same thing. However AutoNation has to mail you the payment from their HQ in Florida and CarMax will hand you a check on the spot. We just sold our 2013 Accord and AutoNation beat CarMax by a bit over $500. We didn’t need the cash immediately so I was willing to deal with waiting a few days for the check.
Interesting- how aggressive did you have to be to get the initial $5K off? I have a BMW coming off lease in September and I can’t get anything remotely like my current deal with them. I did pick up the $1K certificate “just in case”. I’m not crazy about the front end on the Lexus but for a low lease price I can get over that.
Thank you for the response. I will definitely check them out. Do they consider the Kelly blue book prices?
I think they both work off their own internal data. For most cars I’ve found the Edmunds.com calculator to be better than KBB. If you get the condition right you’ll probably see an offer from CarMax or AutoNation within a few hundred dollars of Edmunds guess.
Okay. Thank you Happy Memorial Day.
Since the certificate link is dead, any chance I can borrow and use someone else’s coupon if they don’t plan to use it? If so, anyone is open to sharing?
Yea not hard at all. They are pushing these cars and giving solid deals off the bat. I’m also in SoCal. It depends how ready and prepared you are to make a deal. They knew I had shopped around and wanted a car this weekend so they got straight to the point. Talk to fleet managers or internet sales managers. And yea carmax doesn’t negotiate anything which I kinda like it’s just a break from the usual dealer tactics. They gave us more than we expected so we’re really happy. Yea 385 a month 1k drive off on tier 2 credit on a Lexus with an MSRP of 40k is solid. The residual value comes to 20,800 in 3 years. Market value should be higher assuming electric cars don’t disrupt things too much.
