Hello everyone! I recently picked up an XM and I am having trouble insuring it. I am currently insured with progressive but they say they won’t insure anything worth more than 150K. Any recommendations from where to get my car insured. Thanks!
I’d consider working with an insurance broker on this one.
I recently shopped around and about half the companies wouldn’t insure my Taycan or Amg eqe. Liberty mutual and progressive said they weren’t appropriate for new business. Geico would along with Amica, NY Central Mutual, AAA and a few others.
Get Geico. And yes progressive does insure it but you have to call in and they will send u pricing within a few hrs.
For cars with MSRP higher than $150k, they need to run it for you.
I had simililar issues last year and added it to my Geico policy. Progressive came much higher that time but this year, i went with Geico but tested Progressive again and they provided a quote slightly cheaper than Geico.
Also avoid agents and call direct numbers.
Travelers does mine. And I had no issue up to 250k they told me
XM mania takes a dark turn.
Unless something changed, the first line GEICO phone reps can only issue the iddy biddy baby liability limits too.
You can try Hagerty. (No personal experience)
Why? Make a ton of calls when one person can shop the local market and acuually offer advice on an expensive car that may be hard to place???
I only meant for the two companies I mentioned. Avoid the middlemen and its pretty simple to get quotes done online. Even in this case.
Progressive auto with an agent is a diffrent writing company that Progressive direct. Direct is more set up for non standard cutomers (low limits/ past troubles)- agencies will usually price better for higher limits and nicer cars.
I have Allstate and they insurance all my cars and exotics. Don’t try to do it from the online portal, it has to be done manually by an agent
Yeah I was gonna say I’m with progressive and they def insure high $ cars. It was much cheaper than GEICO. Next time it’ll be the other way around. I switch between the 2 every 6-12 months.
6 to 12 months ? Mine used to stay good for about 3 years max before switching to the other one. Now i have both for certain cars. Surprisingly its cheaper broken down among the two.
I have spoken to 3 different people at progressive and they all come back with the same thing, “we won’t insure any car over 150k” how did you guys do it?
Geico quoted me as much as my McLaren for an XM i wonder why they’re soo expensive
The subtle flex smh.
Insurance is very state dependant. You can ask a lot of diffrent people, but if you are getting the same answer you are just frustrating youself. Just find a local broker that can shop this for you. They will have the knowledge as to who will take the policy and can see of the carriers that want it, who has the best terms for you.
Yeah I had GEICO on the Hummer. Added the 911 and then progressive was better for both together. So switched that time after 3 months. I didn’t check keeping them seperate I’ll have to try.
Their website states as much. Wonder if this is a new directive at Progressive?
Are there restrictions on insurance for luxury cars and sports cars?
Sports car restrictions vary by insurer, and not all insurance companies insure all high-end vehicles. At Progressive, we’ll likely cover your luxury or sports car, but we don’t insure cars valued over $150,000. If your ride is worth more than that, you may want to consider a specialty insurer.
