Where was this from? Could it be state specific maybe ? In Florida, the first time in 2024 it told me to call their number and then agent takes information over the call and then I received an email with a high quote.
The second time, this year just entered VIN on the portal and then put other for model and then I got an email after a few hours with a price which was lower than Geico but not worth making the switch
Wow, in my case it was opposite at first.
Realized my 911 was 140ish sales price msrp was 165. So maybe that’s why they insure it.
Damn man. Whats the word with Geico ?
They go off msrp think its connected to vin. My XM was $166k msrp with sales price of $126k but they werent able to.
Interesting. Maybe bc it was a cpo 2022? I had not prob getting it covered
Ah makes sense, cause the system asks you if you are the first owner right?
Just submitted this on my app to test again for you all. Will update once i get a response but the same thing happened in summer. They accepted the vehicle and insurance was on from this point. (After ofcourse i clicked on submit changes).
I guess you have to transfer the XM to me if you cannot get insurance. BMW will void your contract
Lol. You’re evil. For the record, cant be tranferred if its not in contract.
Hopefully works out for @Hash02 there has to be some company that can insure im his state.
Thank you so much for the help and feedback! I got Allstate to insure me, it wasn’t the price I wanted it to be but I decided to go through with it, hopefully after 6th months I can find a way to get it cheaper.
You can have it after a few months lol ![]()
Try progressive after a few months. I just switched to them last week on a 165k MSRP with no issue. Might be bc I started with someone else 5 months ago when I got the vehicle. Then again maybe they are just smart and know it’s already depreciated 60k lol.
I don’t think it did. Just asked if it was a lease or financed
In no particular order, I’ve been shopping online and calling:
- State Farm
- Farmers
- Travelers
- Allstate
- USAA
- Progressive
- GEICO
- Amica
- Wawanesa
- Costco Connect/AmFam
- Liberty Mutual
- AAA
- AARP/The Hartford
- Kemper
Most affordable with good coverage so far (for me) has been AmFam, GEICO and Progressive. Have gotten responses as much as 2.5x the lowest quote, to even “we don’t insure this/these vehicles”. Long story short - there’s no shortcut, have to do the legwork ![]()
(did I miss anyone
)
Same. Maybe it’s a FL thing but geico and progressive are the only two affordable car insurances down here.
I’ve never heard of the $150k limit thing. I’ve insured more expensive cars with prog and geico without any issue. All done through the website and not with an agent.
For OP, you don’t have to wait 6 months. You can keep trying and if you switch to something cheaper, allstate should just issue a prorated refund upon cancellation. Hagerty an option too for higher end stuff.
Thats awesome!
I recently picked up a lucid air touring, very happy btw. I asked AAA for a quote (my current insurer) And they came back with about $5000/ yr! I tried Costco and amazingly, their quote was more than half off, it was about little over $2000. But I do have the highest tier for membership level with Costco, I think that does help.
I know this is a few months after you posted but for what it’s worth, I just got a 2025 BMW XM Label Red here in FL. Had to call Progressive to get it added and the rep had to put me on hold for awhile but they are able to insure it with a stated value policy despite this one having an MSRP of $191k. Sales price was significantly lower than MSRP and lease amount was substantially lower than that due to the incentives. I thought it would be important since it is leased but he said it didn’t matter and that they used the MSRP. I don’t know if they are making an exception for me given I have my home and two other vehicles with them and have been a customer for the better part of a decade.
I will shop around for a bundled quote but needed to get this done to finalize the paperwork on the vehicle.
