XC90 T8 Problems

So what I’m reading is, DO NOT replace the minivan with a CPO XC90, because my wife will start to miss the Chrysler PHEV’s reliability.

It’s a coin toss

I guess this is one of the reason why they were leasing it for $300+/months several weeks ago. :stuck_out_tongue:

Even with its issues there is no better car for the $$$ we paid in November

100%. No car can come close to the value at that price. Only car comes close at the $400 effective range is the CX90 PHEV.

Electrical issues aside, still a really nice, well made, comfortable, and safe car that works well for many families.

Exactly. And while the interior for sure can use some modernization, the exterior looks IMO have stood the rest of time since current gen came out. They really did a good job picking a design that had some staying power ..

No idea. Although it’s a 4/2024 build

Question off topic. Does the 2025.5 XC90 have wireless Apple Car Play?
I am finding contradictory information on the internet.
Thanks

FIXED
This has been extremely frustrating. I had the same issue with my 2024 XC90 B6 Plus, and when I upgraded to the 2025 XC90 T8 Ultra (with HK), I had the same problem. You pay for premium sound, but you get a flat audio setting every time!

Additionally, around the third month with the 2025, I started experiencing a problem with the cellphone signal. When I started the car, it wouldn’t get cellphone signal, which meant I couldn’t play music through apps like Spotify, and Google Maps wouldn’t update the traffic information, resulting in incorrect ETAs. Sometimes, the car would go days without picking up a cellphone signal, and resetting the infotainment system didn’t help. I called Volvo, and they suggested restarting the network settings by pressing and holding the front defrost button for 15 seconds. That worked temporarily—after the restart, it picked up the signal again—but it would only last a day or two. Ridiculous.

I went to the dealership last week to have a noise in the steering wheel fixed. I also let them about the other issues. They provided me with a 2025 XC60 loaner, and guess what? It had both of the same problems: signal loss and audio reset (I suspect every 2024, 2025 Volvo has these).

When I picked up my XC90, they installed a software update that wasn’t available over the air (OTA) at the time; the latest version available was 3.3.16, but they updated me to version 3.4.5.

The audio reset issue seems to be resolved. The audio settings had not reset yet it’s almost a week since I got it back (I’ll make an update to my post if it happens agian).

However, the signal issue still occurs, but it resets automatically now. Looks like they incorporated a code to autoreset network if there is no signal for a few minutes. So, when I turn on the car, I get updated traffic information and ETAs about five minutes into my drive. At least I don’t have to hold the button myself while driving, but this is still ridiculous.

There’s a new feature in this version that I really like. When you’re in reverse, the screen splits into two, showing both the rear view and a 360-degree view simultaneously. This is an excellent idea. When you switch back to Drive, the 360-degree view remains full screen, which is helpful for parallel parking, until you accelerate further or turn off the car.

One of my biggest gripes was hitting the tiny “360” button after I shift into reverse. I can’t wait to get the update!!

Just rolled by 5,000 miles and none of the issues I experienced early on have come back. I’m really enjoying the car. It’s like a living room couch on wheels!

Now that the warm weather is here I’m getting over 30 miles of real-world range which covers 75% of my daily commute. I’ve only had to get gas once every 6 weeks which makes it so cheap to drive.

My only complaint is the standard “high performance sound” that comes in the T8+. I’ve got the bass cranked all the way up and it still has no low end. It’s really disappointing. Knowing what I know now I would’ve chosen one with the HK audio option.

My parents’ 2020 V60 CC only has the base audio - it was too hard to find one with HK with the colors they wanted. My S60 and my former XC60 both have HK, and I haven’t noticed a huge difference between the two, mostly playing just FM radio and sirius. Maybe it’s different in an XC90.

Same crap lol

Did they push 3.5.14 to your unit? They just did via OTA to my 2025.5 XC90.

I’m running 3.3.16

Check under Car Software in the App - 3.3.16 is from November. There have been several updates including one on June 2nd that will be available OTA in 0-3 weeks

I don’t think they’ve pushed them out via OTA for everyone. My C40 and T8 XC90 both have 3.3.16 despite trying to refresh/check for updates in the system settings.

My understanding is it’s a rolling update.

I built my own vida rig so I can perform my own workshop updates, which I’m off to do now

My 24 XC40 has 3.5.24. I took it in for the recent recall.
