I keep interrogating Acura folks on the longevity of this partnership. It was 5 years, now 2. They don’t know if GM is going to continue to produce 2024’s with no change until they’re done or if there will be a 2025 model year. Leasing IDNGAF necessary if it’s dead after a year or two, but if there is a design change Marry Barra doesn’t seem interested in allowing it.
Several of Volvo AAOS OTAs have introduced problems, including the early one that bricked OTA for many cars. And you can’t roll them back if an update introduces a problem you didn’t have.
Seems pretty straightforward. Neither GM nor Acura have committed to this partnership for any fixed period of time.
Theoretically either party could pull the plug tomorrow. No one from Acura will say what the long term plan even is.
Doesn’t matter to me for the next 24 months but I sure wouldn’t want to buy an Ultium Acura.
My question is what he is referring to when he says he is “interrogating Acura folks.”
Who are these “folks” he is referring to? In what position is he to “interrogate” them in any instance? Wouldn’t that decision regarding the partnership be made at the highest levels of Acura (Honda) and/or GM (in Japan and Detroit)? Are those persons subject to his “interrogation” on this issue?
Sounds like hyperbole when it is likely some floor employee at a local Acura dealer.
Occasionally I had to reboot both the head unit and the phone for that reason. I have a Shortcut now that reboots my iPhone in the middle of the night, I haven’t had to reboot both since adding that.
Out of the dozen vehicles I’ve had in the past couple of years this is the only one that has shown issues within the first couple thousand miles on the odometer.
Ehh if you’re leasing, I wouldn’t let this thread prevent you from either of these cars. I’ve had current gen XC60, 3x XC90 (ICE and PHEV), S60, and c40.
The amount of times this (audio issue having to reset) has happened across all cars is prob 10 or less. Is it annoying because it’s likely an easy software fix? Sure, but it’s pretty minimal IMO in grand scheme of things.
Let me tell you about the time the dealership “fixed” my car and I had no radio for 3 weeks. Meanwhile, my S60 with Sensus has never really had any problems other than them never being able to fix the stop/start battery.
There must have been some software update because I had same issue; no seatbelt chime (very welcome update), no bluetooth and radio mute along with no blinker stock sound effect. Sensors also made no audible sound. Resolution here is to hold the long button under the screen for longer then 20-30sec. 15 seconds only gets you into the clean screen mode.
