That’s funny. After two Volvos I am considering an Acura but I Love the comfort and heft of the XC90…maybe I’ll just get another Volvo…this time it’s the last one for realz
It will have the new OS as on EX90. And all 24(?)-25 will get updated too.
This exact issue happened to my XC90 T8 yesterday. Going to try the rest option and see if that works.
Barely legal
Reset does not work every time.
This worked for me btw. Thanks!
We’re having the phone/audio issue on our new XC90 as well; definitely something new that we didn’t have on previous Volvos. Infotainment system overheats too and needs to cool itself down.
There’s a whining/wincing like noise on startup also, sounds like something with the motor (B6 though not T8).
Have a base B5 i took for an oil change the other day. Had the same issue with the sound but nothing else. Shut the car off, let it sit for a while and it was fine. Only happened once. They said not to do any over the air updates as it causes those issues
How do you turn off OTA?
How do you like the B5? I am looking to switch from T8. As much as I like speed this isn’t the right car to go 300mph or 0-60 in 2.5 seconds but I do like the comfort and utility.
Im not in the car right now but its in the settings, should only take you a few seconds to find.
@8.8.8.8 I didnt want or need a plug in hybrid so I just got the B5. Its plenty of car for what it is. Smooth and comfortable
Thanks. Only had the 2025 version for a month and the audio cut out like 3 times already.
I also got the B5 for the same reason!
I have an XC90 T8 and just got a ZDX. If you want heft the ZDX has it in spades. It’s also pretty comfortable.
I am not sure I want the ZDX or any electric car. My insurance went up significantly when I switched from my B6 xc90 to T8. Upon doing few test quotes it seems that any electric car is about 1k-1.5k more expensive to insure per year.
I priced the change over the weekend from V60 B5 to ZDX Type-S and it was -$2 every six months
But your XC90 is an IIHS top safety pick+ and the ZDX is not (yet?)
Disable auto updates. It will prompt you when update is available, but won’t download.
Similar for me. Really seems to be random as to what cars, for what people, trigger a big increase.
I have some questions about IIHS for ZDX.
As best I can tell all trims have the same headlights. Not sure what I am missing. But there is a huge difference between poor and good headlights.
I’m not thrilled with “Acceptable” in the Small Overlap Front crash and the rest of what they shared in the results.
Agreed although I have doubts about the reliability of that info. The headlight thing is clearly wrong data on IIHS’s end. And the Cadillac Lyric has a good rating on the front overlap test. The ZDX is a badge engineered Lyric. Perhaps GM added some structural reinforcements for the Cadillac or Acura removed these reinforcements from the ZDX.
But these are very similar cars. If Acura couldn’t be bothered/allowed to take out the GM switchgear or even use their corporate key, I doubt there are much more substantial engineering differences under the skin. Could I be wrong, absolutely. But would like to know why these two cars performed different in testing.
Not sure I buy this. Seems like a weird excuse / reason. The OTA updates are supposed to include series of fixes for various issues, so it would be odd to forgo those benefits.
