Why sienna is still so expensive

Anyone knows why sienna is still so expensive while most of the brands are going below MSRP?
I’m thinking to finance a sienna in April next year since my Volvo lease is due by the time.

Not a lot of competition in the segment. There are dozens of SUVs but only 4 minivans.

Supply < Demand

They also seem to hold value than other vans so have to factor that in. Plus you can get a vacuum in them now :joy:

Why they can’t produce more ? I knew was because of the shortage of chips during pandemic. But it’s still the same reason now?

I think this is a loaner.

You and many others being stubborn and only wanting a Sienna over every other Minivan/3 row is the exact reason no one discounts them, you are contributing to the hot market on them

Likely doing better making more profit with scarcity then over supplying the market just to discount them. I’m sure the Toyota execs know a bit more than us. They have been making more profit per vehicle now then ever so…

Trust me I wish there were more too. But seeing the approx 20 dealers I work with allocations of 25s thus far don’t expect discounts anytime soon. I occasionally get 2k off but that’s not common. If you want a green limited fwd or red awd le discounted I’m your man

hardly anyone is preselling Odysseys

But maybe now with the Kia Carnival hybrid option demand will ease a little

I was in market for Sienna for 2 years. I firmly never wanted to pay anything over MSRP.
One day, I thought about savings in gas with Hybrid vs Odyssey. And difference was not much compared to 12K extra paying for Sienna.

Ended up with Odyssey Touring model $46.5K out the door including EVERYTHING.
So happy with the purchase.

What is the price range of the kia? Is it off from msrp? It’s a nice looking minivan indeed.

Odyssey is the best value in the market, fight me :man_shrugging:. Also, the most comfortable drive imo

It’s not really stubborn to consider CJDR’s poor overall reliability reputation or the Pacifica’s specific problems, and Honda’s rep also took a hit when their 5AT-V6 powertrains had transmission failures prematurely (I know some people who have sworn off Honda for these reasons).

Really the only stubborn part is holding on to an outdated perception of Kia if that’s the reason for avoiding a Carnival.

Supply and demand. As others have said, there are literally only 4 choices in the entire segment. Of those 4, how many are hybrid and offer AWD? How many offer the incredibly high resale value of the Sienna? Toyota hybrids aren’t cheap by any means. I still kick myself for not buying a Minivan. I bought a new 2011 Pilot. When it started to develop some issues and was going to require some expensive maintenance (required and preventative) at around 100K miles, I traded it in for a 2017 Pilot. I think at that point the Siennas were still V6 powered. Looking back, I should have bought a Sienna back in 2017. The 2017 Pilot started having issues around 80K miles in 2022 and I sold it. Siennas were going for $5-$10K over sticker at the time and I was able to get a gas Highlander at sticker.

I bought my 2015 Sienna on March 2020, just before shutdown started. Even after 4 years, I still can sell it for more than I bought it for. LOL.

Until the paint peels off and Honda tells you to kick rocks.

I’ll never buy a Honda again. Toyota FTW!
