West Liberty Ave near what is now Day Subaru. If you’re familiar with that area someone was trying to turn left out of the Wendy’s toward the city. Traffic continuing out W Liberty in the right lane was stopped and I was in the left lane still moving. She didn’t take that into account and started pulling out across my lane when someone left her a gap to pull out. We were both able to stop in time to avoid colliding but the person behind me was too close and rear ended me with enough force to push me into inbound traffic since the wheel was turned to avoid a collision with the 1st car. Fortunately no one had major injuries. Bags deployed on 3 of the 4 cars involved though.
Yeah, I’m from the East, but familiar with where you’re referring to. W Liberty Ave is a mess.
If you’re only driving the speed limit plus 5 MPH or less and you’re anywhere but in the VERY RIGHT HAND LANE you are being a massive road hog and jerk. Move right. Then you won’t get tailgated and you’ll share the road instead of being that dork that parks it in the left hand lanes.
While I still live in the South Hills I don’t live in that general direction any longer and don’t have to deal with that road. It’s awful for so many reasons.
You will have people like one of my old bosses, who will rant openly to you as he aggressively passes you in his minivan, that “you are driving a BMW for ****'s sake, why are you only going the speed limit? When I was stationed in Germany I used to drive my Mustang Boss all out and had a hard time keeping up with any of those German vehicles …”
Funny enough - most of the other nice cars I see on the road are always the ones driving carefully. It’s the beaters and minivans which fly around with no regard for other drivers. If I’m gonna drive fast, I’ll head out to a mountain road near me where I don’t have to worry about endangering other people.
People aren’t tailgating you because of the car you drive…
If you are a slow driver in a high density population area, you will be tailgated. They are not trying to race. They are just telling you to drive faster. At least they are not cutting you off like in LA traffic. I have driven sporty cars all my life and I never had any issues with people trying to race me except for a couple of camaros and mustangs. They like to race everyone though.
People are less likely to tailgate you if you have a bigger car like a SUV because of the limited visibility…
Unless, of course, they’re trying to “drag-race” - save gas by reducing drag
(I may have tailgated semi trucks on the interstate at times, sometimes they don’t even know…)
See my answer above
He must have been granny shifting on that test drive
I’ve seen one Giulia Quadrifoglio out in the wild and I was stunned at the restraint the guy driving it had. All these nitwits racing past him and he was just in the slow lane or middle lane most of the time chilling. I would have been laying people to waste left and right and trying to get out of a ticket or two.
I had a regular Giulia over the weekend and yes, there were a couple of idiots in M3s with overly loud exhausts trying to get me to race. I mean c’mon it’s a stock Giulia and there’s about a billion cars on the road. It is a VERY comfortable cruiser.
