Does anyone know the mileage allowance that Volvo allows for it loaner/demo’s before they get hit with a residual adjustment? Aswell as what is the penalty for going over that allowance and adjust to the residual?
@nyclife answered that recently. I think it’s up to 2K miles and then 0.20/mile
I think its .3 over 2k. On a 6k mileage XC90 I was charged 1200. I know under 2k you aren’t charged.
Probably 0.25 then…
I think its 30 cents. 6000 - 2000 = 4000 X .30 = 1200
I said 0.25 because Volvo’s normal overage charge is 20 or 25 cents/mile
Oh okay, not sure then.
Your dealer had just probably hid a few bucks there
Probably. LOL, they have to pay for the 299 deal.
I’ll go with ¢.25, if I find out it’s something different I’ll update the post
Just check Volvo lease offer on their site for mileage penalty and go by that. You can always ask your dealer.
That’s interesting. I was charged $0.20 per mile for every single mile on the loaner which were 6880 at the time of the lease.
The penalty amount was stated at $1,376 in the quote.
But on the other hand I somewhat felt that I was feeding the information to the GM and not the other way around.
Then it makes sense why @nyclife’s client was charged $1,200 for 6K miles ![]()
Wouldn’t that make it ¢.30 a mile, since the first 2k are free?
0.20 x 6,000 = 1,200. @nyclife may be wrong about first 2k.
I found out from the dealer you guys, the loaner rebate doesn’t start until 2k then comes into full effect at 6k. I got confused with the mileage penalty vs loaner rebate.
Now you confused at least me.
What Ursus said…

There are two different things on a loaner:
The money volvo gives the dealers on a loaner: this rebate doesn’t start until 2k miles and progressively goes up until 6k miles
The mileage penalty: starts at 0 miles at .20 cents a mile.
Punched car dealer cash 2.1k comes at any mileage. Overage is a different story. I negotiated on 234 miles punched that GM said he got 2.1k from Volvo.
