Tv hacking 85-100”

Yeah they go in way too much detail that I don’t understand. And I get it, quality is gonna cost me. I was just hoping for a recommendation on something midrange.

Seems the conclusion is everything is junk unless you spend 3k+. And budget brands are good if they actually work.

I shared a 77in that is 1500

$2000+ tax yes that’s likely what I’m getting in the bedroom but 55”. I just don’t want to go that small for the space. Prob will just wind up getting a budget brand with warranty for 2500-3000. Seems that’s the best midrange value on a 98”

if you 100% want to go big, this is what I would buy personally. 100", 5 year total warranty coverage. If you buy with Costco credit card, 7 years. Great TV. If you use Apple products, buy an Apple TV 4K or w/e for your smart features. 10x faster/smoother than the built in. Im sure someone makes a similar google product, but idk what it is.

Is this that much worse? This is my dilemma I def want 95+ but don’t want to pay 5k. 3500 even seems absurd. The free mounting is nice also bc I don’t trust myself doing a tv that large

The one I linked and this Samsung are similar TVs, with the Samsung having a slight edge in dark room performance and the Hisense in bright room performance. See RTings comparisons below (Costco has weird model #s, but its similar to what you linked):

OLED with minimum glare (read reviews for glare)

In 2015 I bought a 55” 4K Samsung on sale for $800 (there were 5 trims above it) - it was the living room TV until 2020 and moved into the bedroom. The picture is flawless, the sound is great, there is nothing wrong with it and it will not die. If it died I’d get something comparable.

The new LR TV is a 65” Sony and it was under $1k at Costco and I love it. I had to swap the pedestals for a universal base because of the furniture it sits on.

My smart TVs don’t connect directly to the Internet so I dngaf about any of that noise.

LGs are also great. Any Samsung, Sony, LG - often the bean can model is more than enough. Life is too short to bring any of those other no-names home. TCL is Walmart monetizing your viewing habits.

The only metric that matters for your use in that living room is brightness.

Yikes…Brightness doesn’t matter at all and turned up will cause contrast issues. Contrast controls the levels between dark and Light and brightness clips image quality. You need a television with the ability for quality contrast and speed to handle sports which will in turn handle all channels.

This seems like a lot of bang for the buck. Last years model. Reviews are great. Price is right anything comparable is 3k+

Sony with Google sucks big time. The worst OS ever.

seems solid for the money, its a 2021 model though and google OS so if you use smart features, highly recommend an external device for smoother operation, no ads, etc. That goes for any TV though basically.

Haha I read Google is the better system :person_facepalming:t3:

I’m just gonna put 5 tvs in a hat and pick one at those point. I need it by this weekend

honestly they all suck (built in smart features). Full of ads, slow, cheap processors, etc. Makes your new TV feel like it’s shit when it’s really just crappy smart features. The best Ive personally used was Samsung, but that was still so much worse than the Apple TV or another good external.

I don’t know much, but my dad got a 100" Hisense for like $1700 and he likes it

Ask 100 people this question about a TV and you will get 100 different answers.

Two things to keep in mind:

  1. No matter how large the room, how far you are seated from the TV will matter most. A huge room with a couch or seats 10 feet away will negate an 85” and up TV.

  2. A higher quality picture on a smaller screen is always better than a a huge screen with poor picture quality.

No need to overspend, but if you are close enough to go 65” then the Sony BRAVIA XR A95L Series 4K Ultra HD TV will blow 95% of other rigs out of the water.

Samsung is fastest, AFAIK. I connected Roku Ultra LT.

Why not get this one?

For Samsung to be comparable to the other 98” TVs they would be $5k+. This is very basic and won’t do well in a bright room

I’m about 12’ away from the wall which is why I’m not wanting the 85”. I posted a pic above of an 85 on that exact wall and it’s smaller than I want. I’m gonna just fork out 2500-3k on the tcl or Hisense I believe bc they have all the features at half the price. Good warranty and free returns if I don’t like it helps a lot.

Originally I was gonna ago Sony 85 but just not big enough
