Tv hacking 85-100”

Been going crazy reading reviews for the last 2 days on tvs. People here seem knowledgeable on most subjects so figured I would ask. Reddit is all over the place and I feel like the av guys there care way more then I do about deep blacks, refresh rates etc etc. I just want a solid value that doesn’t look terrible.

I work from home and my tv is always on. Mostly just streaming I don’t game at all. The room it’ll be in is large and very bright, I do have Sun shades. I can fit a 100” tv, was looking between 85 and 100. Prices just vary wildly. $800+ for an 85, $1700+ for 100.

My biggest question to any techies out there is do I really need to go with a higher end tv? If that’s the case I’ll do an 85 for like $2500 as the 100s are $5k+.

As for brands best bang for the buck also? I’ll prob order from Costco since they have free delivery mounting and 5 year warranty as well.

Tia!

Have you considered a projector as well?

No, you don’t.

The best value in TVs is arguably Hisense.

I have I just wasn’t sure if the room is too bright for that without spending 4-5k on a good one. Also do they last? I’d like to get 4 years out of the tv before it’s prob obsolete

Seemed people were pushing more TCL as the better budget brand

I haven’t been in the market for a year or 2 so I’m not familiar with pricing, etc., but the way I’ve seen it in the past is either shell out for an OLED in the size you want, or just go relatively cheap. None of the expensive LED-LCD’s can rival an OLED’s contrast, though they can be quite good. I have 2 LG OLED’s, 2 (65") and 3 (55") years old and also have a 3 year old 70" Vizio LED-LCD and have had zero issues.

On the budget side, I don’t think you could make a wrong decision between TCL and Hisense. I’m sure the important bits are made in the same factories. Just go for the streaming interface you like best, as they’ll all be capable of streaming the same stuff.

See if you find something interesting Open-Box.
Just bought a TCL S5 100" for $900. Nothing fancy as mini-LED or Oled, but I am impressed about this unit, I think just the experience this size gives you is worthy, even more at that price tag.
You will have to check the hidden menu in person to check the Screen-ON time, but apparently TVs of that size are not 24 hr running. But just to be safe.

Even though I use the tv a lot I feel like spending $5k on a tv is a waste. That’s about the pricing I’d be at on those sizes. If I was able to do a 65 I’d be fine with it, likely getting one of them for the bedroom though.

You can get a 77 LG oled B3/B4 for a deal. 65" you can get for around a grand for b3/b4

Try slickdeals
do you have a corporate/education email? you can try Samsung EPP/EDU, you can buy a delivery and installation service with them as well. (wait for their discount though)

I got mine 85’’ QN95 for like $1700 two years ago.

Ofc it is. Now you see the same problem with Reddit you’re gonna find here. You want an appliance but the internet tells you to get a Ferrari.

The picture quality difference out weighs the cost and you can scoop this tv which is a steal for what it is. Dont listen to @max_g dude needs his trusted removed.

https://www.costco.com/lg-77-class---oled-b4-series---4k-uhd-oled-tv---allstate-3-year-protection-plan-bundle-included-for-5-years-of-total-coverage.product.4000270696.html

And the pricing just goes down so fast it’ll be obsolete in 2-3 years. I still remember my first Philips plasma in 98 was like $3500 for a 40”

If only I bought stock instead of paying 3500 for a tv. Prob would be 125k now

TVs are probably the only thing in this garbage economy that have progressively gone down in price over the years. I saw a 100 inch at costco for like $1500-1600

Im with you. LG OLED 77" For $2k is better than an 85-100" cheaper TV. It’s not about elitism or ‘better contrast’ etc…it’s about just being able to see content. So many movies and shows these days are super dark, OLED lets you actually see it how it was intended.

That being said, we have a Hisense in our pool house and it’s been great too.

This is the previous owners 85” in the same place I’m going to be setting it up. I feel like 77 is just gonna be too small for what I want. Couch is about 15 feet from the wall and I’m blind

Quality of cost…but if thats the case this site will steer you towards a larger TV for those getting up there in age lol.

Haha you have the LG motto above the tv

Before a big ass TV, you’ll want better lighting in that room.

Has a full wall of windows and western exposure so sun all afternoon. Will prob rarely use any lights but the kitchen at night which opens up to the living room. Kind of the issue on what tv to get bc of that glare.
