I wish my cars did.
home link, car play, surround cameras with dash cam function. All should be standard IMO. But being nickled and dimed for options is the new it thing.
Wired Carplay is where it’s at. Audio is limited to CD quality via wifi vs lossless with wired Carplay. Plus, the phone charges without the annoying heat from a wireless charging pad.

There are so many variations in the 911 lineup. I recommend you drive them and determine what you want and need and test drive again to help with the decision making process.
I have a 2009 911 Carrera 4S with a manual transmission (997.2 c4s). I drive it about twice a month on weekends in city environments, canyons, freeways, and sometimes longer trips (400 miles). I absolutely love the car for its exterior design, interior design, and driving dynamics. I’m not a fanboy. At the same time, I really love this generation because of the “analog” feel and not feeling antiquated. There is something special.
Also, I’ve driven different versions of the 991 and 992 generation vehicles–manuals and pdk. (I’m partial to manuals because I enjoy the engagement and don’t feel it’s a chore at all.) Each generation feels increasingly faster and more capable whether it be a non-s, s, gts, etc. With the 992 generation, the car is bigger and feels noticeably bigger when sitting in the driver seat.
On a recent road trip in a 992 S as both driver and passenger, I felt the car was beyond fast, capable, and comfortable–dare I say cushier–than my 997. I enjoyed the experience a lot.
As a driver, I still prefer my 997. I’m not looking for straight line speed, top speed, or driving at 9/10ths or even 7/10ths of the car’s abilities while on public roads. And I don’t have an affinity for screens, drive modes, latest infotainment tech, driver assistance features, etc. Those are my preferences for this car. (For my daily commuter and family hauler, there are different sets of preferences.)
Research the 911, drive a few, then get what you like. You’ll have plenty of fun during the process.
I recently popped a PCCM plus head unit in my 997 c4. Adds a touch screen and CarPlay to a 15+ year old car. The unit comes from Porsche, it looks stock. So much better than the original PCM.
Soo, is it normal for a base 911 to get $7500 tacked on for front protection coating and 2nd year warranty? Or should I try another dealer?
Keep trying dealers. Porsche seems to think they’re Ferrari or something. I was goofing around looking for a new 992 base or 718 GTS 4.0.
Dealer #1: wouldn’t even add me to their list, then called me back offering me a car, but took $10k off my trade. They valued my trade fairly then took off $10k for the privilege of buying a car.
Dealer #2: $10k ADM
Dealer #3: $20k ADM
Dealer #4/5: Honest dealer, added me to their list, will be years before I get an allocation. One of this dealers prioritizes previous customers so you constantly get bumped down.
Dealer #5: $2500 for full front paint protection, $1000 for 2nd service. Seemed reasonable since the paint protection would run around $2k anyway.
I also found a few dealers in somewhat rural areas that would do MSRP deals. From what I read, Porsche frowns on ADM especially with their Premier dealers, so those do the shenanigans with add-ons and trade devaluations. There are a few honest dealers out there, just not that many. It’s almost like dealing with Nissan.
Lots of entitled dealers out there. I would suggest using Porsche’s inventory finder to look for abandoned 2023 models. There’s still a month or two of 2023 production left and the MSRP is several k less (like $8k on a base 992 I think)
From what I’m reading on the forums, demand is softening up - prob related to recent economic news and maybe the 992.2 release?
You talking configurable allocations available right now? Name the dealer or dealers. I know numerous people who would like this info.
Not true. Just read ADM thread in 992 section on rennlist. Still very high ADM’s being paid for actual configurable allocations(all 992 versions).
Also used 992 prices are ticking back up.
The 992 allocations were NOT configurable, however, they were still 2023 models, pre price bump, so maybe $8-10k cheaper than a 2024.
The dealer only doing fairly priced paint protection did not have immediate allocations, no idea on the wait.
If anyone is serious about a 718 Cayman GTS allocation, configurable, 2024 model, yet to be built, PM me. Dealer is in the midwest and claims it’s at MSRP. I grabbed it (no deposit needed until it locks) but am going in a different route.
I don’t know if this is anything desirable, but it appears to be unique.
Low mileage .1 RS so could be, but the Martini livery is just aftermarket vinyl.
Lmao. Base carrera with a markup?
Let these dealers rot.
I will not buy a single car in my lifetime that has a markup. That’s equivalent to waiting 8 hours in line for BBQ in Texas. Let a sucker do it. Not me.
“No such thing as a 911 that isn’t market adjusted”
3 years from now…
“Why isn’t anyone coming back to me for a new car?”
Can you order a 911 Carrera 4S without markup, or an allocation is also tough to find?
Talking to my dealer about a month ago while waiting for service. This was the 911 situation for them:
- Local and prior customers can be put on a waiting list for an allocation at MSRP for 911 Base, T and Turbo
- Paying an ADM for those will move you up the list if you want
- S/4S, Targas, GTS, GT3 and special editions have markup
- In-stock units depend on interest. The longer it’s sitting, the lower the ADM until it’s gone and eventually discount. But he said they haven’t had one sit that long yet. He gave an example of a loaded Turbo they had for a while could be bought for MSRP to locals and prior customers.
The local and prior customer thing could be a kick in the nuts to those casting a net for certain vehicles. But they said it was overall better for business compared to taking a larger ADM for out of market people.
My dealer will do it, but you have to wait in line and there is no “if you pay ADM you can cut the line”, so everyone pays sticker and waits their turn.
