The Best Finance Rates & Hacks! Submit your CU recommendations!

Yes, Taxes are done every single year!

Someone should be able to underwrite a car loan based on your 1040 reportable income. I would see if you can get an approval from a Chase/BofA first. From there it’s just persuading a CU you are a member of.

Isn’t this the reason why many people avoid CU’s in the first place? They have have better rates but they in most cases put you through hell whether it be via paperwork and taxes or the bad customer service.

Sometimes they have better rates, or better service, not always. Retail banking is a race to the bottom right now.

They should have better rates and be easier to work with because you have a preexisting relationship. Not to say you can’t join based on their criteria, but it’s like assuming anyone can get a Tier 1 lease: if you have solid credits and satisfy any/all stips, yes. If your life isn’t quite on their happy-path, all bets are off.

I’m sure 10 CUs would hang a car loan at tier 1 for an ExPat: I don’t know which 10, and @muzammils may not be eligible to join them. I’m pretty certain a big bank should hang that, and with that knowledge/callback they might persuade a CU to hang it at a better rate. Easier still is a new car refinance at a lower rate.

Thanks - Just leased Lexus RX350 last week with no issue, so I think this is something to do with the size of the CU and their experience. I am just trying to get the best rates …

Anyone know if these is a sheet on balloon loans? Really hard to find the list of CUs doing them and qualify for their membership.

When I get covid again thats next on my list

they didnt ask for any documents? By quick time you mean a couple of hours or minutes

Where did it pickup? I don’t see Allegory in Google sheet linked in fist post at all…

I don’t list allegacy. It’s a NC only and I can’t find a work around for membership. There’s a back end sheet that only I can see that has a spaghetti nest of scraped rates that I cherry pick for

  • Rate
  • Membership Options
But I do need to find time to update the sheet.

Um.

I just did my first mobile deposit with DCU.

Any of my other checking accounts would show this as a pending deposit when I look at my account activity, but all I got from DCU was this message in the app.

I guess I’ll… check my account again later today or tomorrow to make sure it posts… :man_shrugging:

While this is my first checking account with them (opened just to get the APR discount for autopaying the car loan from a DCU checking account), I’ve been a customer for ~10 years. Aside from a savings account, we also have a HELOC with them.

Another ship has sailed in the night as Northwest FCU has raised their rates:

Also, some negative experiences from a few Tesla discord members who were unable to get Northwest to appraise a new Model Y at MSRP (they valued it at $6K under using an outdated price book). Yuck!

Damn. I have a 30 day lock with them for another week. Hope my car comes soon. I actually checked their rates yesterday and it was still 2.19%.

@HersheySweet Affinity seems raised as well and spreadsheet didn’t pickup it yet.
