The Best Finance Rates & Hacks! Submit your CU recommendations!

Might be good to get approval from a CU with a low rate and then try to get one of the larger banks to match (if you have a good relationship with the bank). That way you know customer service won’t be a complete roll of the dice.

another pain in the ass credit union.

Great things come with great hassle

this is what northwest said . The rates are good too. 2.19% for 72 months

“To be eligible for membership with us, you will need to either work for one of our partnered employers, have an immediate family member with membership sponsor you, or you can make a donation of $10 to one of our community partners.”

Hit doctor of credit today. I’m sure they’ll be flooded with apps. https://www.doctorofcredit.com/northwest-federal-credit-union-2-19-apr-auto-loans/

Customer service seems good though. I sent them an email at like 1am and at 8am I had a response

They are also good at answering phone calls.

For Texas residents only it looks like :frowning:

If you scroll down under the eligibility criteria, it says you are eligible for GEFCU membership if you are a member of the “Friends of the Austin Public Library,” which you become via a simple $15 donation (regardless of where you live)

Oh wow that’s awesome! Hershy should add this to the spreadsheet then!

It seems to be a very small fcu, is that right?

Honestly, I don’t know anything about them, other than that they have really low auto loan rates advertised

Need your advice *************************************
Initially approved based on the credit score by the Allegacy and later not approved as all my income was from abroad as I am doing an ex-pat project overseas. I even offered them to show the tax returns etc. Not sure why they declined. This is what they responded"

"So after conversations and everything, underwriting stated that they wouldn’t be able to approve the loan at this time. Since the paystubs and everything is not within the USA and there are not taxes being held, we aren’t able to use this as the income. "

Very strange, I have been living overseas for the last 10 years, paying full taxes, and bought the house with no issue, and the Car loan is the problem? The question is, shall I try other credit unions, or would that be the case with others?

You can try but I’d suggest using a larger , Amex recognizes foreign payment history for credit and I believe chase does as well for certain credit card programs

Are you a US expat paying Federal income tax on that, or local taxes where you were?

That language tells me everything there is to know about that CU.
