you cant buy a tesla lease.
right. my question was if its more advantageous if i wanted to have the car for 6-8 months to lease and then swap it or finance and then sell
I think you should also prepare for the fact that the fisker potentially will be a lot further then 6-8 months out so make sure you would be happy with the Tesla in the long term if need be…but definitely purchase
Could be 6-8 years even.
I think you’re mixing it up with the cyber truck
Could be never.
Could be Roadster 2.0 too.
There was one that dropped today.
but when are you finally going to take the plunge and get something across the street???
Hi I’m a Noob to the Tesla community, but I’m in the market for one. I’m looking into model 3 performance. I had some questions if you guys can help me out.
- What’s the actual turn around time if I place an order for one?
- How often can you find one that’s already built and delivered? Are these over msrp?
- Is the self driving feature really worth?
A new order for a M3P is estimating June to August depending on your build.
This is the fastest configuration Tesla is delivering right now.
There are a few M3Ps available right now; WaitingForTesla.com - Find all available New Model 3 Inventory in United States
Most of these inventory options are demos with nominal miles on them.
They are generally sold at a small discount under MSRP based on the mileage.
If you joint the discord server and sign up for notifications you can also catch a new drop.
No… Autopilot is enough for most.
To piggyback off of @z0lt3c’s excellent and succinct answer to this question; if you really feel the need to give it a try, you can always do the monthly subscription for FSD. At $199/month, its a heck of a lot cheaper, especially if you keep the car for only a few years. And my understanding is you can start and stop the subscription whenever you want.
FSD is still in beta and you need to qualify to get in. Essentially what you get now is all the other gimmicky features like making the car pull out of a tight spot driverless etc.
Question - how does delaying an order work? Say I have a car with an EDD in mid Aug but want to push it out a bit since I got a new MY from a drop yesterday. I’ll sell one once I get the second one. Trying to understand 1) when do I initiate pushing the order out and 2) what does that actually mean to push it out (for how long, etc)
Thanks!
Thank you for the help, I really appreciate that. @z0lt3c how do I get into the discord? And what are these “drops” people are speaking of.

You can do it anytime before delivery is scheduled. Even if after you have a VIN assigned. Some SAs might refuse your request but you can simply try another SA.

Generally, when you release the hold on your order, you are being put back to where you were in the queue, but it’s incredible hard to predict when your actually delivery date would be. It depends on your model, options, location, etc.
This has varied across the board. Best bet would be to get your SA to place your order on hold. Might be around a 90 day hold before they force you back into queue and accept delivery of the next car available in your build.
Literally read the first post of this thread. It details everything about the discord including drops which are cars that are being placed for sale (often for mere seconds) on tesla.com
Easy way to get a free hold is to switch your reservation to a white LR model….which seems to be the model that takes the longest to deliver. (This is on top of the SA hold).
