So people who already leasing can now have an option to buyout the lease. Correct?
2024 M3 RWD didnt get the $7500 EV credit but Tesla give a $7500 credit to lower the price. Contract never says its an EV credit . Is that means one can get the EV credit also if they buy the lease now ?
No. The $7,500 EV tax credit is for buying new cars. Buying out a lease is buying a used car. And a 2024 model year car isn’t eligible yet for the used EV tax credit.
Tesla does pass through a $7500 incentive when leasing. That being said, it appears the Tesla purchase option is only at lease end, and for a predetermined fixed amount. Given we have limited contracts to analyze, early data suggests the buyout is inflated. Who knows if the used EV credit will survive a 3-year lease term, but by the time a 2024 car would be eligible for lease buyout, it would be old enough to qualify.
Looks like Tesla is now allowing lease buyouts. So if you don’t meet the requirements for the personal credit you can lease it and buy it out at the end. Here is a tesla model 3 sample lease terms from their website.
Lease Model 3 starting at $299 per month.* When you take delivery by December 31, 2024, you’ll get free Supercharging and free Full Self-Driving (Supervised) for three months**—the perfect way to kick off the new year.
If one use a referal they
will now get $1,000 off Model Y, $1,500 off Model 3 or $2,000 off Model S, Model X or Cybertruck.
FYI, I spoke with Tesla order customer support. There’s no guarantee of vehicle order being fulfilled in time for Dec 31 delivery. There are a few inventory vehicles for immediate pickup, good luck finding the build you want.
