Tesla Model 3 News

Here’s an interesting twist to the Uber autonomous accident noted above…

Aren’t all Uber “drivers” felons?

Are you suggesting I should connect my phone to the car by a physical wire each and every time I get in and out?! I don’t even use physical keys anymore.

Oh ok, I was a whole 1 off. Still not too shabby considering the millions of miles autopilot has driven. Still significantly safer than most human drivers.

Might be a useful read for those asking what’s the point of fully autonomous cars…

Speaking of wires, how’s the factory wireless charging on the supposedly technically superior Model 3? Since you hate wires so much, surely the Model 3 has wireless charging by default? My Bolt came with a wireless charging option from the factory?

And again, how’s the Model 3 Android Auto/Carplay performance?

For less than $80 there are multiple after market wireless charging solutions for the model 3 that work perfectly. I bought a couple wireless charging pucks and plan to install them in my model 3. For a total of $36, I have a great solution with no visible changes!

I don’t charge my phone in my car. You see, I don’t need to connect my phone at all for nav to appear. :joy:

How very primal, actually having to connect a wire. And every time too !

That’s your comeback? “I don’t charge my phone in my car”. Lol
You must not care about Supercharging either, as it seems you don’t drive far enough to bother charging your phone then.

btw, still waiting for your take on the Model 3’s Android Auto/Carplay performance. It’s wireless, right?

edit: hell, I’ll just come up with your response for you.
“The Model 3’s native UI is superior to both Carplay and Android Auto! Who needs those?!”
Amirite? Just a typical TSLA fanboi/Elon fluffer.

Correct me if I’m wrong, but doesn’t the Bolt offer bluetooth…which requires no wires?

I’d guess there are quite a few people that don’t charge their phone in their car most of the time. Even if you choose to not get a wireless charging solution, the model 3 actually does have one of the easiest ways to plug in your phone with dedicated charging area that you can just place your phone in. I’ve never seen another car have something like this.

I’m hoping Tesla decides to open up a native API to 3rd party app developers. Hasn’t happened yet, but crossing my fingers!

Yes, but not wireless AA/Carplay. It would need a new head unit that has wireless capability. Such units finally came out earlier this year. Google’s rather lame excuse up to that point was “Wireless AA would drain a phone’s battery too fast.”. Of course, if a car has wireless charging capability, that would be a moot point.

Don’t hold your breath. GM was supposed to do that for MyLink/Intellilink 5 years ago. Instead, they moved to Carplay/AA

it wasn’t always wireless? wow, I didn’t realize that. That kinda sucks.

I swear I thought MyLink had that capability. I had Intellilink 1 year before they released AA/Carplay, so I guess I’m wrong.

Perhaps Mylink does, but not Carplay/AA. Not in the Bolt anyways.
I bet GM adds wireless AA/Carplay in a future MY…possibly 2019. It’s gonna need to add some new features to the Bolt eventually.

Probably a very small chance, but some version of Supercruise would definitely be welcome!

Yeah, I know I could control my phone wirelessly (Pandora, Stitcher, random Youtube video with sound only) with Intellilink. I’m obviously wrong about Carplay/AA though. Maybe I’m confused because iDrive has that capability, although, I’m not overly impressed with Carplay through iDrive.

What is the matter with you guys? This thread has degenerated too far.

Can’t we all just be adults and stop this petty arguing? I think we all understand that some people really like Telsa, and that some really don’t. To each his own.
