Sold a very low mileage, pristine 2019 VW eGolf SEL to GMTV.

I wanted to sell it last summer but I could not get hold of its replacement–a Hyundai Ioniq 5–until February. I didn’t know that GMTV existed until I saw them mentioned on LeaseHackr.

GMTV was $200 below the Carmax price but the agent sold me on it being a smoother process. I decided not to go to the Carmax location and go through their process. Maybe he should get a bonus!

Below you can see prices quoted by various buyers in July, January, February, and March. All these were online and based only on self-reported mileage and condition until March. It was interesting to me how the top bidder varied, and how the prices changed over that period.

BUYER___JULY 19k__JAN______FEB 23k___MAR 23k miles

Cargurus__$25,001___$22,899___$17,750____$19,270
Carmax___$18,600___$19,600___$22,600____$23,000
Carvana___$26,888__ $19,339___$18,937____$19,295
Driveway__$28,833___$21,421___$20,639____$17,985
GMTV__________________________________$22,800
Vroom____$24,507___$13,720___ $16,206____$19,040
WCC___________________________________$22,000

GMTV has a guarantee that they’ll beat CarMax offer or give you $100.
Did they beat it?

I asked. The $100 kicks in if you go to Carmax, get their onsite offer, send a picture to GMTV and then they will pay it if they don’t change their offer. Sending them the online Carmax offer doesn’t qualify. The GMTV person said that the Carmax bid often goes lower when they look at the car.

I decided against going through all of that and just sold to GMTV.

You’re right, I forgot about that part.
I had gone to CarMax a couple months ago because CarMax couldn’t give me an online offer. GMTV was like $1k lower, I submitted my CarMax offer and GMTV came back and beat CarMax by a couple hundred bucks.

I think it’s not true based on what’s posted here and on my own recent experience. And who wants to go to Carmax, get an “official” quote and then leave to submit it to GMTV only for them to “maybe” beat it by $100?

Just repeating what I was told by the GMTV agent. I’m sure you are correct. Maybe others will benefit from my mistake.

I just think Carmax is the easiest (but not necessarily the highest offer) way to sell if you don’t have to drive for hours. You get an online quote, go there and get your check on the spot.

Sold my 2019 Highlander LE to GMTV last month. Never heard of them until I did a little research and I’m glad I found them.

I extended the lease thru TFS twice, each time for 6 months, so instead of 36 it was a 48 month lease overall. RV according to TFS was $20.3k.

Carvana offered $27.4K ($7095 above RV)
Driveway - $23.8k ($3458 above)
GMTV - $27600 ($7250)
Algo - $25.9k ($5550)
Carmax - $26.6k ($6250)
Shift - don’t operate in my area (New England)
Vroom - said they are not buying leased cars

Process was smooth as butter. Got a check for $7553, the whole process from the online quote to depositing the check was about 10 days.

SOLD my 2023 Wrangler Rubicon 4xe with 957 miles for $52,500 in SoCal
Second best offer was Carmax $51K

Everything was smooth, and they picked up the car two days later (today)

Sterling sucked - condescending PITA. Rebekka is great to work with, my friend sold her one.

Sold a 2019 CRV.

CarMax - 27k
ALgo - 27k (minus $100 pickup fee)
CarCashNJ - 27k (minus 100 for title search)
GMTV - 27,500

Not the smoothest process. Buyer was Austin who had a habit of ghosting me numerous times. When we decided on a drop off time, we showed up to the location to discover they were closed Fridays.

Eventually arranged a day to drop off but when we showed up for a 930 appointment, the guy didn’t show up till 11. Only then was it quick to leave the car and get the check

I’d say 2 of 5 star experience

Not worth the extra $500. Wasn’t my experience with GMTV but that would leave a sour taste in my mouth for sure

Seems like the buyer has a lot to do with it. Alex is great and everything goes like clockwork with him.

Who has the smoothest process out of GMTV, Carvana, Vroom and CarMax?
Have an offer from all 4 that I’m satisfied with I’m and not sure who to go with, as I’m prioritizing the ease of process.

who has the highest offer?

They should all be smooth. I’d go with the highest offer. I’ve sold to GMTV and Carvana. Carvana was the easiest process I think I’ve ever been through, but GMTV was also extremely easy

I sold a GLS to GMTV last week, they had the highest offer and even bumped it $1,500 to make things easier. Beat Carvana by $5k. Process took about a week.
