Sold one to VROOM!

I got that too on Monday. Five days later no contact, the assigned carrier doesn’t even have a functional call number (any menu option just goes to voicemail after thirty seconds)

Sigh.

Who is your assigned carrier? Mine is montway, they are very responsive.

Acertus. Their phone # has 9 options yet they all just go to a voicemail prompt after a little bit. Nobody is home.

Just followed up with Vroom after no communication from the company several days after I submitted the docs. I’m now told that Vroom does not buy leased vehicles that are expiring sooner than 65 days. I sold my vehicle to Vroom prior and had no problem selling the vehicle and I was only 2 weeks out from lease expiration. Is anyone familiar with this policy? Not sure if this lady knew what she was talking about.

That’s who Vroom assigned for me as well but I got right thru and talked to someone on Thursday when I called them.

The phone number I have is: 314-334-3400

Same. Must have missed them on their day off or something Friday. I’ll keep trying I guess.

Did you setup your pickup after getting through to them?

They called me to pickup the vehicle but I wasn’t available that day so I called them back 2 days later and they said someone would be reaching out to me to pick up the vehicle again. This was Thursday afternoon and I haven’t heard back. I’ll call them tomorrow if I don’t hear anything.

Exact same thing happened to me today. Submitted verification docs on Tuesday, waited until today to call, they asked when lease expires (~10 days) and they said they don’t buy anything with <65 days. Doesn’t make sense.

Carmax offered less but will take to Carmax and not deal with the headache. If that is their ‘new’ policy, Vroom needs to do a better job of communicating that before people waste their time.

Agree. Will be heading to CarMax this week as well.

Sorry just saw this - I did have MSDs on the Tacoma - I called TFS beforehand and they said that they don’t count them toward the buyout price (unless you ask them to) and that once the lease is satisfied or vehicle is purchased they’ll mail you a check for the MSDs.

How did your appointment go?

Just completed the sale with Vroom. The final instruction was the following:

Important : It’s your responsibility to notify your state’s Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) that you no longer own the vehicle. This can be done by completing an online form on your state’s DMV website (typically called a “Notice of Transfer and Release of Liability” (NRL)).

I’m in Florida. It looks like my only option is to fill out a “Notice of Sale/Bill of Sale” and submit it to the local tax collector - https://www.flhsmv.gov/pdf/forms/82050.pdf.

Anyone have experience with this in Florida? Not looking for tax advice but would like to know what other people did in my position.

TIA

I just got thru to them again and spoke to someone. Press option 0 when you call in.

I just spoke with Nissan finance and learned that they are no longer(starting from today) selling the cars to 3rd party dealers. I was trying to sell my leased Nissan Sentra to CarMax last week and CarMax couldn’t reach out to Nissan to get payoff amount. Now I know why they were not reachable. So frustrating. I’ll never ever buy/lease a Nissan.

Thanks for the info.

I’m here now since TFS wasn’t open Saturday - so I’m super anxious about this. Got all the pre-work done on Saturday with CarMax so now it’s just a matter of seeing if TFS is going to allow this. The Nissan post above has me super worried.

When would you call your bank if you don’t see the payoff from Vroom yet? I received my check last Wednesday. FedEx tracking shows that Maserati Financial got the check Wednesday as well, but still no update online.
Would you call vroom first to see if the check has cleared? How long would you wait to call Maserati?

Thanks. Finally got through as the system wasn’t just sending it to voicemail, turns out Vroom messed up the pickup order (sent it to them as a trade in + pickup).

All of this IT and automation but still can’t prevent someone manually entering something wrong lol.

Would it make sense for you to buy out your lease and then sell it? You have to pay sales tax but it may still be worth it to do that.

Paperwork and POA sent back to Vroom and received on 05/06. No news yet but I think I should be receiving carrier info shortly if things go as planned. Will follow up with Vroom this afternoon to confirm everything is on track.

2018 Alfa Romeo Stelvio:

4 months of lease left through Ally Bank
Payoff - 26,375
Vroom Offer - 27,615

I’ve wanted out of this lease for well over a year. Equity finally ‘flipped’ and with my Wife and I both working from home, perfect time to go down to one vehicle and start looking at possible leases in a few months.

If my next payment is due on the 14th, and it’s auto deducted from Ally, should I push the date back to the 30th?

Yeah if I do that still I can make some money. Just I need extra time and energy to deal with that process. I’m talking to couple Nissan dealers through KBB trade in process. I got reasonable offer through KBB so let’s see if they will honor this offer.
