Did you find a solution to this? Currently dealing with the same thing.
This exactly, with GMTV and a Volvo. The FUD spread by incompetent Vroom customer service drones is annoying.
Additional Pro-Tip: Get a Vroom quote, if only to haggle vs. CarMax or GMTV.
They’ll come close, and will have you set before a fortnight.
Congrats! I’m currently exploring other options and glad to hear it’s not a TFS thing (for now … )
I called Vroom and told them what BMW said. They said they would call and reach out to BMWFS themselves and would get a quote from them. They were able to get one pretty quickly after.
Yeah but you had a crazy deal on it. Congrats nonetheless!
Yeah, everybody is chasing these pie in the sky offers from Vroom - just be mindful that you might be chasing something that doesn’t actually exist. With that being said, many people have had success with Vroom. But if they’re giving you the run-around, there’s a decent chance you’re never going to collect on that offer. My 2 cents - if anybody else is close to their offer (especially Carmax or a local dealer, since it’s a same day transaction) - take it and save yourself the headaches. I wasn’t going to let them drag their feet any longer in the off chance there actually was some pending policy change from TFS.
Agree with this. I used this to sell to Shift, and Shift was SUCH an easy process. The driver came out to me, did a quick visual inspection, matched the quote, then I signed all the docs on their iPad. None of the Fedex and carrier stuff.
This is exactly what I was saying. Use Vroom’s crazy super magical prices to get GiveMeTheVin.com or CarMax.com to come up in price.
It works and you don’t have to deal with the shittiest customer service I’ve seen in my life. One hour on a call to get dropped.
Vroom seems to do amazing for bog-standard / boiler plate transactions. If you need a human involved beyond a few sentences and clicking boxes, you’re screwed.
Use their price and present it to places who are worth a damn like Shift, Carvana, Carmax or my fav, GMTV.
$40,250 from GMTV and a check was sent overnight with POA, I dropped it off at Manheim that day. $40,769 from Vroom… but lazy ass title department that is too busy for Volvos. GMTV came up $975 to get over 40k and get close to Vroom.
Also they will match CarMax or give you $100 (or something, I saw it in one of the original emails)
If you go to Selling Your Car Online Has Never Been Easier | GiveMeTheVin - that’s the guy I worked with - salt of the earth, no bullshit, and got things done overnight.
LOL - vroom just finally called me back and said “due to a policy change they are no longer buying leases from TFS. Sorry for the inconvenience we will be closing your account.”
Just got an offer from Carmax online that was within $1k so I guess I’ll be going down there.
Get down there ASAP in case that’s actually true. At this point it think it’s strictly a Vroom thing, but wouldn’t take my chances - cash out while you can. Glad you got a decent offer, it was a totally painless process for me at Carmax and would totally recommend it. They gave me the exact price I was offered without any hassle.
That’ll be nice, CarMax is 3k below Vroom for my Audi. Ufff…
Just sold my 2018 q50 to ALGO. Whole process was quick and easy.
Quotes from cravana and ALGO were the highest - 3k over my buyout.
I decided not to go with carvana because I heard they dont work with infiniti financial. I was right. 3 days later I received email from them saying they can’t buy my car.
Anyway, I was already in process with ALGO. TIMELINE
April 29 - accepted ALGO offer
April 30 - FaceTime with ALGO and signing contract
May 7 - car picked up. Towing company received my check May 4th, but they were busy and couldn’t pick car up earlier.
It is crazy that 2 months ago best offer was 2k under my buyout.
Sure. Will update this thread
I sold to Vroom before and it was easy. They paid me exactly what they quoted. I had some minor scratches and one fairly bad curb rash on my wheel. They won’t try ding you for scratches here and there as long as it’s not in a terrible condition.
You’re just in time since NMAC/IFS will discontinue third party dealership buyouts. Please call ALGo tomorrow and stress for them to post date that check before 5/10. Also call IFS and notify them that the payoff is on the way.
Started process April 26th…Currently waiting to schedule car pick up.
After waiting 4 days I send email to inquire about pickup. Get a text at 4pm to schedule but respond in two hours or get removed from queue. But I didn’t see the text until 7pm. Now what? I reached back through text and email, 2 hour window to respond sounds ridiculous.
I have an appointment at 10:30 this morning.
Just curious - did you have MSDs on your Tacoma? I’m curious what happens to that money on a sale? Is it factored into the buyout price?
I believe as long as the papers are all signed , just have The bank note on the account that the deal was done prior to 5/10. I’ve found it’s pretty hard to tell the companies when to send the check , since when they buy it the contract says they have 15 days to send the check.
It’s in the seller’s best interest to explain the situation to the third party dealer since different reps at the bank are saying different things. There is nothing to lose by doing so.
That’s a good point that the date on the bill of sale would show way before the deadline, however, the signed contracts were between you and the third party dealer, not NMAC/IFS. So if the deadline is Monday, and you rush to sell your car Sunday and sign Sunday, check gets delivered 24th May (15 days later), NMAC/IFS could still refuse the payoff even though the deal was technically done before 5/10 (on 5/9)
