Just extend the lease.
Selling to Carvana now, thanks for the help in this group.
Do I need to contact the DMV regarding this sale after the deal is completed tomorrow?
I had to to let them know about the plates, etc. this is in Florida btw.
I was in similar situation as you, but through Chevrolet (GM Financial). Carvana is taking the car tomorrow.
I got a payoff quote that was a few dollars different from the residual value.
It’s similar to what others have expressed to me, which is that the 1-pay is gone. The 1-pay went towards knocking down the residual value. I had 4 months left on my lease, and if I were making monthly payments my payoff would of been what it’s worth today plus the 4 months of payments so its a squash.
So positive equity check I’m getting is covering those 4 extra months of payments I already made in advance via 1-pay option.
I have a pickup from Carvana scheduled in a week. Just for fun, I wanted to see if the offer would change so I entered the vin in incognito mode (and put a ballpark payoff in there because I couldn’t remember the actual amount VW sent them); somehow it recognized me but nevertheless it gave me a new offer (close to the agreed on offer but not exact). It also replaced the payoff amount with the incorrect payoff that I fudged when I was doing that checking just for fun, so amount of the check coming to me went up too.
I’m not trying to dupe them but their system simply has the wrong amounts in there and I feel bad for messing everything up. I’ll just email them cuz the wait on hold can be hours, but what a messed up system. Maybe I’ll try again and make the payoff $1 and see if they’ll tell me I’m getting an $18,000 check at pickup time lol.
Not sure why but I got a regular tow truck. Also they need to change their process. They put the keys in a lock box hanging from the passenger window. With todays cars, long as the key is in proximity it opens. So the guy left with the keys in the box but anyone could have walked up and easily stolen it. I was watching and waiting for the tow truck lol.
Yeah when I spoke to them on the phone they say they’re handling around 30-40 pickups per day in my area so I’d most likely have a normal tow truck picking up my car. Also he said once they take the keys, the car is their problem so if someone wanted to hop in and take it, that’s on them lol
I noticed that too but didn’t care because I had a signed sales contract with keys handed to them so liability 100% with Carvana at that stage
I like the way you are thinking!!!
A little different Estern European school LOL
Therefore the guy who took care of my car wrapped the keys in aluminum foil
They were fast today, picked up my Chevy, paid me the check. The guy who did the walk around was the guy who paid me, but not the tow truck guy.
He left the car in my parking garage and I checked on it 30 minutes later and it was still there, went out for lunch and came back 2 hours later the car was gone. I have those proximity keys as well, hopefully someone didn’t just take it for a joyride, either way the representative that came said it’s no longer my responsibility the moment the check and keys exchange hands and the paperwork for power of attorney is signed.
I’m taking him at his word for that one, and pretty sure nothing went wrong with the pick up, pretty safe neighborhood.
Taking the car off my insurance tonight, and also was told to check with my finance company in 7-10 days to make sure the car was paid off.
So just for fun last weekend I checked the value of my 2018 Tacoma after seeing a few posts here that Carvana was paying a premium for some vehicles. Boy did I about crap my pants when they offered me $3,200 more than the payoff. This is a deal I only put first months down on and rolled about $1,200 in remaining payments and termination fees on my previous lease into. Got everything set and ready for pickup on Tuesday. Will update when that happens.
Sold my 2019 Tacoma SR5 double Cab this weekend.
The only pain was I had to drive to Vegas from Salt Lake to drop it off, so I had to make a trip out of it.
Carmax offer was 32000
Carvana’s initial offer was 33,400 but that appraisal expired and when I resubmitted it went up to 34,900.
I bought it in October. Without checking my paperwork, I think MSRP was around 33,000. I paid less due to it being a leftover after the 2020’s came out.
Pretty pleased. I drove it for almost a year and came out ahead. I never really liked the Tacoma anyway . Now I’m carless and looking for options.
The great Tacoma selling spree is in full swing!
Please post numbers. It will be great to see an effective Tacoma lease of -$50 a month!!!
Carvana picked up my car on 8/1, according to them they overnighted payoff check to Toyota on 8/5. Toyota, 5 days later and as of this morning still claim they haven’t received payment yet!
Can someone who sold a Toyota tell me the time frame on this please, I’m stressing over it.
I sold my toyota to Carvana last month and it took toyota 21 days from the day they received the payoff check to officially close my account.
Thank you!
Has anyone who did a lease extension to sell to Carvana ran in to any issues?
Trying to get this done and come out ahead as much as possible, just called and got the lease extended today.
Vroom offer is about 900 less but we still net a decent amount.
