Other side is the coin…I bought a car from Carvana last week, when I went to go pick it up I found basically an empty storefront and the lights mostly off. I walk in with my 13yo, there is nobody at the front desk, and I stand there for about 5 minutes before someone comes out of the back to greet me. He says that we have a couple other appointments coming in before he gets started. So anyway, 2 other parties come in and he passed out paperwork, and then turns the lights on, at which point he says “we’re trying to save money.” He has all of us do the paperwork at once as a group, and then hands us our keys. The ‘vending machine’ is empty, the bays are empty, all we have is our vehicles lined up in front. It was pretty depressing compared to what a typical delivery probably was.
The vehicle I bought was a good 15% under market (and I shopped hard and wide for weeks), no dealer fee (as opposed to most at $499-799) and shipping was only $199 (versus the $500-1000 that I was expecting depending on where my vehicle came from).
All in all a good experience, and I hope Carvana can make it thru.
Got an offer for 24506 for 2019 Alfa Romeo Giulia, 32300 miles. Others were waaay below.
I had just bought my lease off and the title transfer had not completed so the offer expired before I could upload the transferred title (in my name).
Requested another quote, got 23982. Not bad. Still way above other offers. Proceeded with it. Started the process on 2/13/2023, dropped off at ‘vending machine’ on 2/17/2023. The drop off was easy. The person did not even go out to check the car. Said since I drove there, it must be fine. Got the check, tried depositing but my bank said its above mobile deposit limit. So deposited next day at bank. Waiting for it to clear.
Sold my Volvo V60 via Carvana. V sad to see it go, my favourite ever car but sadly it had a tonne of equity thanks to Carvana offering the best price of the 4-5 I tried.
V easy, nice gent came and did the inspection and completed things in 20-30 mins.
He stated due to being short staffed (recent cut backs I suspect) that they were using a 3rd party towing party to collect the vehicles and it could be 24-48 hours until it was collected. A potential inconvenience to those with little space I imagine and a slight one for us as we were replacing 2 cars at the time and juggling 4 at that moment.
The towing service was actually there within an hour or so however and I didn’t even realize they’d taken the car until I finally twigged that what I thought was a spam text, was them confirming they’d taken it!
I had an offer that expired, resubmitted, they dropped it $500.
Dropped it off yesterday, they have a location 2 miles away from us. 2018 BMW X1 2.8 min white/Dakota leather. 29,800mi they offered $26k.
Had minor bumper damage front & rear. Also had a shallow crease on the right quarter panel. I had replaced the rt rear door from a deer that crushed it in. (Bought off eBay - same color).
Just sold a 2018 Tesla Model 3 to Carvana for $31.5k. KBB, Autonation and a bunch of others listed here came in anywhere from $23k-$30k.
They have a dropoff location about 10 miles from me so I chose that rather than paying $100 for a pickup. Straightforward dropoff, the “advocate” confirmed a few details, took a few pics and drove it away to a trailer.
I had driveway take my 2021 Honda Odyssey lease with about 40K miles on it with 7 months left. However, they had to ground my car and have it bought out by a Honda dealer and then they buy it from said dealer.
Process started July 1st and it is still ongoing. Just waiting for the title to arrive to the dealer and then I’ll get around 7k.
Correct. I Just worded it poorly. Here was the exact verbiage of their process.
“I just need to go over how the process will work with us buying your lease out on your 2021 Honda Odyssey. Honda is one of 4 companies that will not allow 3rd parties to buy out their leases but because we are part of the Lithia Corporation we can work around this but it is a process that takes some time.
We will have to ground the vehicle with a Honda dealership and they will obtain the actual Lease Payoff for us. When they provide that to me I will reach out to you and let you know exactly what that amount is and which dealership it is. If you are ok with the amount then we will start full-on to buy your car. The process can take up to 6 weeks to complete and you will not be paid until the dealership has received your title from Honda. They will need to come to pick up the vehicle approximately 2 weeks into the process and then will issue payment to you approximately 3-4 weeks after that. If you are still wanting to move forward just let me know, I am in the process now of grounding the vehicle and I do need to let you know that once the dealership starts the paperwork it can’t be stopped and they will have to buy the car. I know that this is a lot so please just let me know if you have questions and I will answer them for you.”
